Charles Forson has been officially declared the MP-elect for the Tema Central Constituency, following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) completion of the collation and declaration of results on Sunday, 5th January 2025.
Mr Forson, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed his gratitude and determination to prioritise the development of his constituency as he assumes his new role.
Speaking to the media after his victory was announced, Forson emphasised the importance of the electoral process in bringing closure to the long-contested battle in Tema Central.
“The battle has ended, we are ready to work, and I am very thankful to them all,” he remarked, expressing appreciation to his supporters and the constituency for their patience during the process.
Mr Forson also reiterated his belief in the integrity of the electoral process, noting that elections are a matter of numbers and that the results were consistent with expectations.
The declaration of results for Tema Central came after the Accra High Court, on 4th January, instructed the EC to finalise the collation processes for four constituencies, including Tema Central, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South, by 6th January 2025.
In Tema Central, Forson narrowly defeated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Ebi Bright, securing 18,870 votes compared to her 18,815. The total valid votes cast in the constituency amounted to 37,894.
