There is tension and uneasy calm within the Muslim community at Anweaso in the Denkyembour District of the Eastern Region following the mysterious disappearance of a 25-year-old woman.

The young lady identified as Danjuma Laliatu reportedly went missing after a confrontation with one Kwadwo Ahenfie, over a farm boundary dispute on October 7, 2024.

In an interview with Adom News, Laliatu’s uncle, Alidu Issah said she returned home from her farm on the fateful day with multiple injuries.

Upon interrogation, she told the family she was attacked by Kwadwo.

Laliatu narrated that, she managed to wrestle with Kwadwo and escape, sustaining several injuries and in the process lost her wrist beads which got torn.

She, however decided to return to the farm to retrieve her items which she left behind during the attack and has since not returned.

Kwadwo Ahenfie was picked up by the Akwatia Police the next day but has been released despite admitting to fighting Laliatu.

The most annoying and frustrating part to the people was when the suspect’s family adorned him and themselves in white with powder and threw a party to signify their son was innocent.

Laliatu’s family who are not taking the situation lightly has expressed their disappointment in the local police amidst calls on the Inspector General of Police to intervene in the mysterious disappearance of their daughter.

The mother of the lost girl, Adiza Danjuma, has also called on the Denkyembour district Chief Executive, IGP, and the government to come to her rescue in her quest for justice.

Meanwhile, some of the angry Muslim youth in Anweaso have said they demand justice for the girl in the shortest possible time.

They are demanding a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances leading to their daughter’s disappearance amidst threats to take the law into their own hands and cause mayhem in the town.
