There is tension in Awutu Senya West in the Central region following the appointment of Moses Arhinful as the new District Chief Executive (DCE).
He is to replace Joseph Aidoo who was removed from office by the President.
According to reports, Mr. Arhinful was a parliamentary candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2004.
He was also said to have crossed carpet to Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) and was even the parliamentary candidate for the party in the 2012 general elections.
Some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have questioned the new DCE’s loyalty as he has proven to have an unstable political allegiance.
A resident in an interview on Adom News expressed disappointment in the President for appointing a “deceptive” person.
“He was the NDC parliamentary candidate in 2004, he came back in 2012 as the PPP candidate. He has been moving from one political party to another and now he has been appointed a DCE. He is such a disloyal person,” he said.
Another resident was happy with the changes because the former DCE for three years “has not helped” the district.
“I’m thankful to the President for replacing the current DCE, he hasn’t helped this area at all,” he said.
