Tension in Asawase NDC as youth plot to oust Muntaka

-

A group, calling itself Concerned National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth of Asawase, has vowed to oust their Member of Parliament (MP), Muntaka Mubarak ahead of the party’s parliamentary primary.

The aggrieved members, led by Nana Wiafe, claimed their MP was to blame for the dwindling electoral fortunes of the NDC in the Ashanti region.

They have, therefore, picked forms for their candidate, Mabarick Masawudu whom they believe will serve the party’s interest.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Monday, Mr Wiafe said they mobilised cash and picked the forms on behalf of their candidate.

“Masawudu is our candidate because he is a grassroots person who has the NDC at heart that is why we used our money to pick the forms for him,” he said in Twi.

He said they resisted all attempts by the constituency executives to frustrate them.

“The constituency secretary, Kwame Zu tried to prevent us from picking the forms but we resisted it. They can’t impose Muntaka on us,” he fumed.

Mr Wiafe served notice they will resist any attempt by the executives to disqualify Mr Masawudu from contesting the Asawase primary in the upcoming parliamentary election.

In a rebuttal, NDC Communications Director for Asawase, Yakubu Tony Aidoo described as laughable claims by Mr Wiafe.
