The Member of Parliament for Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region has instructed his constituents asking for the asphalting of their roads to direct their anger at government.
The constituents during a demonstration on Monday Morning accused the MP and the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ga West of failing to asphalt the road despite claiming in the NDC’s Green Book that the road has been completed.
The livid demonstrators indicated they had waited for far too long for the government to complete the projects.
Reacting to this on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Monday, Emmanuel Nii Laryea said governance is a continuous process and therefore called on President Akufo-Addo to continue the project and stop the partisanship.
He said: “There was no mention of this project in the NDC’s Green Book. I remember last year a similar demonstration came up and so money was allocated for it in the 2014 budget. The contract was then awarded to a contractor.
“The contractor started the road from Manhean to Oduman Junction through to Ablekuma and other areas. But the contractor as at last year was owed some money and so he stopped the project. Then-President John Mahama promised to pay but he is out of office now and so what we expect from the current president is that he should continue the project for us. He must work and stop the partisanship he has demonstrated in the road sector.”
