A key member of the gospel group Hallelujah Voices, Mabel Tiwaa Rockson, has addressed the ongoing controversy involving Team Eternity over alleged copyright infringement.
In an interview, Mabel disclosed that Team Eternity contacted them, asserting that as gospel artistes, they saw no reason for Hallelujah Voices to engage them in a dispute over their rendition of ‘Defe Defe’ song.
According to Mabel, a spokesperson of Team Eternity stated their common mission is to praise God, hence words used in that regard should not have legal implications.
She suggested that they would rather the issue is resolved amicably than through legal action.
Despite Team Eternity’s stance, Mabel revealed that Hallelujah Voices’ producer, Kwame Mickey, is resolved on pursuing the matter legally.
Mabel added that, Mickey is not a forgiving person, recounting a period when he even considered legal actions against Hallelujah Voices in the past for using a video he produced without permission, a situation that was eventually settled internally.
Mabel stated, “We were expecting Team Eternity to reach out and be rational, but listening to what they have to say, I think our producer should continue taking them on. Mickey is not complacent; he will take them on to the last.”
Additionally, Mabel announced that Hallelujah Voices is working on a remix of their original song.
Unlike Team Eternity’s danceable version, their upcoming remix will maintain a beautiful and soft rhythm.
