Police in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, have arrested a taxi driver who reportedly assaulted a woman in her home with a machete at Baakoniaba, a suburb of the Municipality.
The alleged attack by the driver, Samuel Antwi Boasiako in the woman’s room, has shocked residents of the area.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley-Oppong, said they received a report from brothers of the victim about the attack.

“Nwabeng and Ocloo Christian, came to the station at about 2:38pm to report that they heard their sister screaming for help from her room, and rushed to the scene to find her lying in a pool of blood with severe machete wounds on her body, and mentioned suspect Samuel Antwi Boasiako as the one who attacked her”, he explained.
He added that the suspect after the attack, he act bolted with the cell phone of the victim, Awoyaa Patricia.
After the reports, police mounted a search for the suspect and subsequently arrested him in his house.

The cell phone of the victim was retrieved from his room. He said investigations have commenced, and the suspect will soon be processed for court.
The victim is currently responding to treatment at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.
