Brighton & Hove Albion manager, Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed that Tariq Lamptey will be unavailable for their Premier League opener against Everton.
The Seagulls will face Sean Dyche’s team at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Ahead of the match, Hurzeler confirmed on the club’s website that Lamptey, along with Pervis Estupinan and Evan Ferguson, has returned to training but will not be fit for the game.
“It’s great news, but I’m not sure if they’re ready for the first match,” said the German manager, formerly of FC St. Pauli.
Lamptey, who missed much of last season due to injuries under previous manager Roberto De Zerbi, is anticipated to be a crucial player for Hurzeler this season.
The Ghanaian defender made 19 Premier League appearances last year.
However, Lamptey is expected to be ready for Ghana’s opening two fixtures in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger next month.
