Tariq Lamptey could return before season ends – Brighton manager

-

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler has suggested that Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey could make a comeback before the season concludes.

Lamptey was sidelined for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar due to injury.

He also missed Brighton’s recent 2-2 draw against Manchester City, having already sat out the previous match against Fulham due to suspension.

Speaking ahead of Brighton’s FA Cup quarterfinal clash with Nottingham Forest, Hurzeler expressed optimism about Lamptey’s recovery.

“Tariq will be out for a longer time – he has an ankle injury,” Hurzeler said.

“I think there’s a chance that we will see him back [before the end of the season]. He is a good healer, I have a big trust in my medical staff and in Tariq’s mindset to be back on the pitch as quickly as possible.

“There’s a chance that he will be back in several weeks,” he added.

Despite Lamptey’s absence, the Black Stars continued their impressive World Cup qualifying campaign, thrashing Chad 5-0 and defeating Madagascar 3-0 to strengthen their position at the top of Group I.
