The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tanko Foundation, Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko Atokple, has donated GH₵50,000 to Weta Senior High Technical School during its 15th-anniversary celebration.

This initiative reflects his dedication to enhancing educational infrastructure and opportunities in the Volta Region.

The celebratory event, which took place at the school’s premises, brought together a diverse audience of students, teachers, alumni, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries.

The donation was welcomed with cheers and gratitude, as it will significantly contribute to the school’s efforts to improve facilities, enhance learning environments, and support various academic and technical programs.

Mr. Atokple expressed his commitment to education and youth empowerment, emphasizing the importance of leveling the playing field between rural and urban schools.

He stated that the donation is part of a broader effort to ensure rural schools are not left behind.

“Education is the foundation for a prosperous community, and we must ensure that schools in rural areas have access to the resources they need to compete on an equal footing with their urban counterparts,” he said.

“This donation is just the beginning. I am committed to partnering with other stakeholders in the private sector to bring further development to Weta Senior High Technical School and other institutions in the region.”

He encouraged the students to embrace the opportunities available to them and strive for excellence, assuring them of continued support from the Tanko Foundation.

The Tanko Foundation, established to support youth and women’s empowerment, agricultural modernization, and community development, has been at the forefront of transformative initiatives in the Volta Region.

The Foundation’s contributions to education, health, and entrepreneurship have touched countless lives and inspired hope among underprivileged communities.

This latest gesture toward Weta Senior High Technical School aligns with the Foundation’s broader mission of fostering sustainable development through strategic investments in education and skills development.

Beyond his philanthropic efforts, Mr. Atokple is actively working to create broader opportunities for growth in the Volta Region.

Known as Torgbui Nyaxordeakorla I of Anlo, a title conferred upon him in recognition of his dedication to uplifting the region, he is now vying for a position on the Council of State as the representative for the Volta Region.

“I see this role as a platform to champion the interests of our region and attract more development projects,” Mr. Atokple remarked.

“The Volta Region is full of potential, and with the right representation, we can achieve remarkable progress.”

If elected, Mr. Atokple plans to leverage his position to advocate for increased investment in education, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship.

He believes that a strong partnership between government and private entities is key to unlocking the region’s full potential.
