I take responsibility for our loss – Mahama

-

Former president Mahama has once again reiterated his reasons to accept the ultimate responsibility for the party’s loss in the 2016 general elections.
Speaking at the 36th anniversary of the 31st December Revolution the former president noted that, attempts by his government to undertake huge economic transformations caused the party’s defeat in the 2016 elections.
“In the last four years, because of the need to undertake certain important reforms, in order that the economy will grow exponentially, we must take storm actions, and when you have an opportunistic opponents who are ready to take advantage of any such difficulty, then you will have the kind of result we all found.’’
He added ‘I won’t stand over the milk and weep, that milk will never come back into the cup. So what we need to do is to work on the Kwesi Botchwey report.’
This year’s 31st December revolution event, the 36th anniversary, is being held under the theme, “Uniting around the principles of probity, accountability, and social justice”.
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as well as Volta Regional executives of the NDC are among persons participating in the Sunday morning march.
About the 31st December Revolution
On 31st December 1981, former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings led a group of soldiers to topple the late President Hilla Liman’s government to form the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC).
The PNDC was an amalgamation of the Armed Forces Revolution Council (AFRC) which on 4th June 1978, deposed the Supreme Military Council (SMC) II, and handed over power to Liman’s government after elections.
The PNDC steered the affairs of the country until 1992 when the country was returned to constitutional democracy.
