The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has lauded President John Dramani Mahama’s budget statement, describing it as a progressive step toward economic growth and business development.

In a statement signed by its president, Kwadwo Amoateng, TAGG expressed strong support for the Finance Ministry, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, regarding its tax relief measures, including the abolition of the Electronic Levy (E-Levy), the Betting Tax, and other levies.

The group believes these measures will provide much-needed relief for businesses and individuals while promoting economic stability.

TAGG particularly commended the budget’s emphasis on VAT-related issues and efforts to broaden the tax base. The association is eager to see how these policies unfold and their impact on businesses, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Additionally, the group praised the budget’s focus on women’s economic empowerment, sanitary pad distribution, and other social interventions, calling them vital to fostering inclusive development.

“We look forward to collaborating with the Finance Ministry and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of this well-crafted budget,” the statement added.
