The young boy’s courageous act has evoked waves of admiration because, the snake had long plagued many residents, throughout the predominantly farming community.

Recounting his harrowing encounter, Junior stumbled upon the colossal python ensnared in his brother’s trap as he was en route to harvest sugarcane for his pigs.

The snake thrashed in the trap and uprooted some vegetation to exhibit its power, as it fiercely struggled for survival.

Observing meticulously, Junior, aware that snakes breathe in reverse, heaved a sigh of relief, and summoned his courage to slay the serpent in its evident distress.

Junior was guided by the Akan adage which says, “se wokum owo a, twa ne tiri preko,” meaning, “when you kill a snake, cut off its head, to ensure that it is dead.”

Master Junior skilfully severed the tail first and subsequently decapitated the animal after a protracted battle and a display of unwavering courage.

Fearlessly, Junior transported the snake after a 15-minute walk to his home.

Upon arrival, the community erupted in celebration over Junior’s triumph against the colossal snake that had scared farmers in the area for months.

He cautioned fellow residents to exercise extreme vigilance while venturing into the forest, as it was not his first encounter with a massive python in the vicinity, suspecting that more might be lurking around.

Kwame Junior’s heroic exploit has garnered widespread acclaim and commendation from the KEEA Municipality, with many lauding him as a true hero whose bravery stands as an inspiration to all.

According to the farmer, while returning from the farm, his dog which was trailing by a few meters, suddenly started barking.

When he turned to find out what was happening, he was shocked to see a python attempting to suffocate and devour the dog.

The farmer said after seeing the dog struggling with the python to free itself, he mustered courage and struck the reptile with a cutlass.

However, the injured python turned its anger at him and started chasing him. But after giving the animal a gap, he mapped up another strategy and succeeded in hacking the python, leading to its death.

The residents were shocked when he removed the python from the sack and saw its full length.

In an interview with Kasapa News, the farmer disclosed that he would sell it for Gh¢600.00 to traditional medicine practitioners since the snake possesses fat that can be used for treating certain ailments, including toothache, boils, clearing of stretch marks and scars.

According to the residents, they had been leaving in fear and panic ever since the reptile was spotted in the town as several attempts to kill it proved futile.

A young boy was reportedly going to attend to nature’s call around 8:30 pm, when he spotted the python and out of fear he quickly rushed home and called for help to kill the snake.

The residents mobilised themselves and armed with a gun stormed the area where the snake was seen and shot it to death.

Kojo Nkum, the man who killed the snake, in an interview with Kasapa News said he shot at the reptile three times before it died.

The snake was later taken home and cut into pieces to be consumed by residents since snake meat is their delicacy.

Kojo Nkum disclosed that the snake meat will be prepared as Khebab, and sold at nightclubs and other food joints in the community.

He added they will use some of it for medicine and the making of drums.

He was said to have felt a “pinch in the area of his genitals” before noticing a five-foot (1.6 metres) snake beneath him in the toilet bowl at his home in the Austrian city of Graz.

The python, a constrictor native to Asia which can grow to a length of nearly 30ft (nine metres), is thought to have found its way into the toilet via the network of drains.

“Shortly after he sat on the toilet the Graz resident – by his own account – felt a ‘pinch’ in the area of his genitals,” the police said in a statement.

The victim needed treatment in the hospital for minor injuries.

Although the snake’s suspected route into the toilet could not be confirmed, it is thought to have escaped from a neighbour’s apartment.

A reptile expert contacted by the emergency services removed the snake from the toilet, cleaned it and returned it to its owner.

A 24-year-old neighbour, who owns 11 snakes, has been reported to the prosecutors’ office on suspicion of negligently causing bodily harm, the police added.

Reticulated pythons are the world’s largest snakes and do not attack humans by nature. However, they will constrict or bite if they feel threatened or if they mistake something for food.

Reports indicate the python was escaping from the room through its window when residents trooped to the scene and killed it.

Information gathered by Adom News suggests the tenant who occupies the said room had traveled days before the incident occured.

The residents say they suspect the reptile may have been used for ritual purposes because such homes are not dwelling places for such reptiles.

They have since called on the traditional council to, with immediate effect, perform rituals to cleanse the community of any evil.

Akbar Salubiro, 25, went missing on Sunday night after setting off to harvest palm oil in a remote village on the island of west Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Concerned friends and relatives found a giant python sprawled out in Akbar’s own back garden the next evening – and feared he had been suffocated and swallowed.

Akbar’s lifeless body was found inside the serpent after horrified locals sliced open its belly using a 18-inch long hunting knife.

Horrifying footage shows the corpse being slowly removed from the killer reptile as the leathery skin is peeled away.

Neighbour Satriawan – who knew Akbar – said: ‘He was found in the location of the garden.

‘Initially Akbar set out from his home to go to harvest palm. After not returning to his home, people looked for him.’

Akbar’s wife, Munu, was away at the time and only found out when pictures and video emerged in the news, local media reported.

Village secretary Salubiro Junaidi said: ‘People had heard cries from the palm grove the night before Akbar was found in the snake’s stomach.

‘When the snake was captured, the boots Akbar was wearing were clearly visible in the stomach of the snake.

‘Resident cut open the belly of the snake and Akbar was lifeless.’

Reticulated pythons are boa constrictors that suffocate their victims before swallowing them whole.
