According to Prof. Adei, road contracts are awarded to persons who can pay 1 million upfront to officials at the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

The Ministry in a response described as surprising, the corruption allegations by the statesman.

Due to the seriousness of the allegation, the Ministry asked that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigate it.

Reacting to this on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Twum Barimah said the allegations were serious and should not be taken lightly.

He therefore urged EOCO to launch an in-depth investigation into the matter.

To Barimah who is also the communicator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the crime organization’s line of questioning to Prof Adei will play a key role in the entire process.

“It’s important for EOCO not to sweep what he’s [Prof Adei] said under the carpet. He is a statesman and his track record in government speaks for him. Line of questioning will immensely impact the outcome of investigations.

Don’t solely rely on Prof Adei’s evidence. Don’t behave like the Attorney General and tell us there was no evidence to interdict any official at the Ministry,” he said.

Mr. Twum Barimah also advised Prof. Adei to fully cooperate with EOCO.

“Prof Adei should also cooperate with EOCO and provide further information other than the ones already circulating in the media in order.”
