President of the coalition of non-posted trained teachers, Kennedy .S. Adjei, speaking on the ‘Y’asem Nie’ segment of Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Wednesday, revealed that all 400 teachers had not been posted two years after completing college in 2017.

“We are over 400 teachers who have not been posted since we completed our programme of study from 48 training colleges in 2017; we have completed our national service and have been duly licensed. We have enough training to teach but can’t because we’ve not yet been posted,” he said.

The group accused the Ghana Education Service (GES) of omitting their names from the teachers’ posting list for 2019.

“We have all it takes to be posted per the requirements of GES, but for some strange reason our names were omitted from the posting list for 2019, those of us with index numbers below year 2016 and 2017 were omitted from the list,” he bemoaned.

Health professionals in the country have been urged to take up postings to villages.

Chief Director of the Ministry of Health, Nana Kwabena Adjei-Mensah, who disclosed this, said failure by health professionals to take up postings to such communities will lead to non-payment of salaries.

“Everyone has a responsibility and the same responsibility goes to nurses in the country. If you are posted to deprived areas or even a different region, just go because if you refuse to go, your name will not appear on payroll after some days,” he told Accra based Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

According to Mr Adjei-Mensah, over 30, 000 nurses have been posted in 2019 and therefore it would be disastrous if these nurses refuse postings to deprived communities.

He said any health professional with posting challenges should rather channel their issues to their rightful authorities instead of solely taking decisions without informing their respective regional directors.

The nurses and veterinary doctors numbering about 500 at the press conference in Sunyani said they had not received any postings after completing their national service since 2011.

Spokesperson for the group, Daniel Amoako told Adom News’ Koofori Bossu Denkye that the leadership of the group has met several times with the officials of the Food and Agric Ministry but nothing fruitful had come out of the deliberations.

According to him, the Agric Ministry has failed to get them posted.

Mr Amoako said they have been waiting home for the past years but nothing has been done therefore would resort to protest to get their demands resolved.

“As bonded Veterinary Technicians and nurses, we cannot work without salaries after our service. But here is the case those concerned are refusing to post us to the appropriate facilities to render our services to the nation,” he said.

He continued that “We were promised that our concerns would be addressed but for some years now as I speak to you, nothing has been done even after several meetings” he said.

Mr Amoako said the Agric Ministry has failed to heed their demands and therefore they called on President Akufo-Addo to intervene.
