Owusu and other suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of the late Francis Frimpong, a supporter of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club (FC), popularly known as ‘Nana Pooley’.

The court ordered Owusu to report himself to the police and submit his passport to the court registry within three days.

However, the court reviewed the bail conditions of the other suspects—Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations; Joseph Kyeremeh; Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwaa; and Yaa Asantewaa—allowing them to travel or leave Sunyani without judicial restrictions.

They were charged with “abetment to commit a crime, to wit murder” under Sections 20 (1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29). The suspects were ordered to report to the police once every week and were scheduled to reappear before the court on March 10, 2025.

During the court hearing, the court denied bail to three other suspects—Isaac Fosu, Augustine Yeboah, and Yaw Koshy—and ordered the police to keep them in custody. They have also been charged with murder and are due to reappear before the court on March 3, 2025.

The court further heard that another suspect, one Braimer, who has also been charged with murder, is still on the run.

‘Pooley’ was stabbed to death on Sunday, February 2, 2025, during a match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at the Nsoatre Professor Amoah Koromansah II stadium in the 19th round of the Ghana Premier League.

The Sunyani District Court ‘B’ has granted GH₵300,000 bail with two sureties each—one to be justified—to the two female suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Francis Frimpong, a supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC.

When they appeared before the court on Monday, Presiding Judge Eric Daning directed suspects Elizabeth Akosua Ntiriwaa, also known as “Akosua Black Chinese,” and Yaa Asantewaa to report to the police twice every week.

As part of their bail conditions, the suspects cannot travel outside the Sunyani Municipality without judicial approval for the first 14 days.

They have been charged with “abetment to commit crime, to wit murder” under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29) and are scheduled to reappear in court on Monday, February 17, 2025.

The court, however, ordered the police to keep two other suspects, Isaac Fosu and Augustine Yeboah, in custody for further investigations.

The deceased, popularly known as “Pooley,” was stabbed to death on Sunday, February 2, 2025, when Nsoatreman FC hosted Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC on matchday 19 of the Ghana Premier League at the Nsoatre Professor Amoah Koromansah II Stadium.

So far, the police have arrested seven suspects in connection with the crime, including Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, owner of Nsoatreman FC, Joseph Kyeremeh, popularly known as “Santos,” and Agyemang Duah Owusu, a police inspector.
