Nelson is alleged to have collected the monies under the pretext of securing the American citizen a resident permit in Ghana but failed.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of defrauding by false pretence.

Nelson, represented by counsel, was admitted to bail of GHC400,000, with three sureties, two of whom are public servants earning not less than GHC2,000 and living within the court’s jurisdiction.

Additionally, the court said the other surety shall be justified with title deed.

The court presided over by Halimah El-Alawa Abdul Basit also ordered Nelson to deposit his passport at the Court’s Registry and report to the police every two weeks.

It also directed the prosecution to file disclosures and witness statements for Case Management.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, earlier did not oppose bail, but prayed to the court that the bail conditions should compel the accused person to appear in court as well as the police pending the final determination of the matter.

The case as narrated by the prosecution is that the complainant Khori Edward Lweis is an American citizen residing at Pantang, Accra.

The prosecution said the accused person also resided at Pantang.

The prosecutor said in May 2023, the complainant and his family visited Ghana and were introduced to one Monica Spence, who claimed to be under the management of Mr Logic’s Music management.

The prosecution said the accused person during the conversation intimated to the complainant that, he could get resident permit issued to him to be able to live and work in Ghana but at a fee.

The court heard that the complainant became interested, and that the accused person took advantage and demanded and collected cash in the sum of $21,000 under the pretext of securing resident permit for the complainant and his family.

The prosecution said the accused person collected GHC48,000 again from the complainant for taxes payable to the government.

The prosecutor told the court that the complainant carried out his own investigations and discovered that the transaction was not legitimate, and the funds charged by the accused person were unauthorized.

On May 11, 2024, the complainant reported the matter to the Police and the accused person was invited many times by the Police via his cell phone to assist in investigations, but he failed.

The prosecution said investigations extended to the Ghana Immigration Service indicated that the cost of the resident permit was $1,000 per person.

The prosecutor said accused summons was prepared and served on the accused to appear before the Court.

How do you invite Nigerians to shoot ‘A Country Called Ghana’? – Mr Logic asks Lil Win [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/how-do-you-invite-nigerians-to-shoot-a-country-called-ghana-mr-logic-asks-lil-win-video/ Thu, 22 Feb 2024 14:04:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2359997 Artiste manager and pundit on Hitz FM, Emmanuel Barnes, also known as Mr. Logic, has raised questions about Kumawood actor, Lil Win’s decision to enlist some Nigerian actors for his upcoming film ‘A Country Called Ghana.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz, Mr. Logic questioned the rationale behind casting Nigerian actors in a project that celebrates Ghanaian patriotism.

He expressed his concerns about diluting the film’s authenticity and diminishing the opportunity for Ghanaian actors to shine on an international platform.

“Bringing in Nigerian actors for a movie titled ‘A Country Called Ghana’ raises eyebrows. We need to showcase our own talent and highlight the essence of Ghanaian storytelling” Mr. Logic remarked.

While acknowledging the potential benefits of collaborating with Nigerian actors for broader market appeal, Mr. Logic emphasized the importance of nurturing the local film industry.

“We need to prioritize Ghanaian actors and stories that resonate with our people,” he asserted. “It’s about promoting our own” he stated.

Mr. Logic expressed worry about the potential cultural misrepresentation with the inclusion of prominent Nigerian actors.

“We risk sacrificing our unique cultural identity by prioritizing commercial interests over authenticity. We have talented actors like Van Vicker who could lead such projects. Let’s invest in our own and showcase the rich diversity of Ghanaian cinema” he charged.

In response, Lil Win said the inclusion of the Nigerian actors is to give the movie an international appeal.

Leave Cheddar alone – Mr Logic tells Ghanaians https://www.adomonline.com/leave-cheddar-alone-mr-logic-tells-ghanaians/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 14:10:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2343064 Artiste manager and musician, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has come to the defence of New Force leader, Nana Kwame Bediako also known as Cheddar.

According to him, Ghanaians must allow him to pursue his political aspirations without unwarranted criticism.

Mr Logic emphasized that Cheddar, despite being a young man, should not be hindered from aspiring to the highest office in the country, adding that, age should not be a barrier to leadership and that every individual has the right to aim for the presidency.

In a Facebook post, Mr Logic stated, “Is only in GHANA that when a young man aspires to take leadership, then he is tagged a thief. Leave CHEDDAR Alone pls. Ghana don’t belong to any family or GROUP!!”

Mr Logic believes that, this stereotype should not be applied to Cheddar, asserting that Ghana is a democratic nation where anyone, regardless of age or background, has the right to aspire to the highest seat of power.

It remains unclear how Ghanaians will respond to Cheddar’s political aspirations, and whether Mr Logic’s call to “Leave Cheddar Alone” will influence public opinion on the matter.

I begged Angel, met Sarkodie but his verse never came – Mr Logic cries out [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/i-begged-angel-met-sarkodie-but-his-verse-never-came-mr-logic-cries-out-video/ Thu, 21 Dec 2023 14:17:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2334944 Artiste manager and musician, Emmanuel Barnes, widely known as Mr. Logic, has become the latest celebrity to claim that Sarkodie has failed to provide a verse for a collaboration.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic said he was shocked that Sarkodie failed to respond to him even after he scheduled a meeting with him at a popular hotel in Ghana.

“Sark does these things to some of the people. It shouldn’t always be based on relationships. Once the person is an industry person when they reach out, give them the verse. I spoke with DJ Mensah, Angel and met Sark at Villagio. I sent about 4 songs and the verse never came,” Mr Logic narrated.

“First I approached on a friendly level and I asked him to cut away the relationships, I am ready to go the business way, and I was ready to make an offer. I was ready to pay $10,000 and DJ Mensah said Sarkodie won’t take. I was shocked. If he doesn’t like the songs, he should have reached out to me,” Mr Logic said.

This isn’t the first time an artiste has complained about Sarkodie ghosting them for a feature.

Freddie Meiway, Kwaw Kese, Edem, Samini, Yemi Alade, Dee Money, E.L and Sherifa Gunu have all complained about Sarkodie’s behaviour.

I blame Hammer for killing the spirit of hip-life genre – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/i-blame-hammer-for-killing-the-spirit-of-hip-life-genre-mr-logic-video/ Tue, 12 Dec 2023 15:54:45 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2331154 Ghanaian artiste manager and Hitz FM pundit, Mr Logic, has taken a swipe at music producer Hammer, attributing the decline of the once-thriving hip-life genre in Ghana to his departure from the industry.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of hip-life and blamed the exit of Hammer for it.

He insisted that, Hammer failed to uphold the legacy of the genre, leaving a void that is yet to be filled.

“Our problem is with leadership. It’s important Okyeame Kwame acknowledged they didn’t do something right. I respect Hammer, but he left a generation down. If we are talking about why Hip Life doesn’t matter, and they don’t have a category on the digital stores, popularize it, and they will find a way for it,” Mr Logic stated.

He indicated that, Hammer played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of notable artistes such as Sarkodie, Kwaw Kese, Edem, Tinny, and TeePhlow.

Mr Logic praised Hammer’s ability to modernise hip-hop, introducing new trends in instrumentation and culture to the genre.

However, he said many talents would have nurtured if Hammer had continued to play a key role in hip-life.

“People lost the excitement for hip-life when Hammer and co resigned and said they were going to sell bread. You have instituted a movement and ignore to go and sell bread? he fumed.

Mr Logic also drew attention to the impact of Hammer’s departure on the next generation of artistes who may have missed the opportunity to work with the influential producer.

“Hip Life got lost. He brought in a certain trend of instrumentation and a certain culture. Obrafour singing highlife and Sarkodie rapping hip-hop… that’s it. Hammer modernised hip-hop, and then one day he leaves. How about the next generation that wanted to work with him?” Mr Logic questioned.

Nonetheless, Mr Logic made a case for the potential growth and recognition of the genre on the international stage.

He added that, if Hammer had continued, genres like “Asakaa Drill” could have been categorized at prestigious awards like the Grammys.

Talented people are quitting music in Ghana every day – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/talented-people-are-quitting-music-in-ghana-every-day-mr-logic/ Mon, 27 Nov 2023 15:24:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2324694 Artiste manager and entertainment critic, Mr Logic has backed his artiste, Mo’ Spence’s comments that some Ghanaian musicians are better off quitting music.

The Ghanaian/Jamaican dancehall artiste in an interview stated that, money pushes talented musicians more than anything else.

“Music is not about luck. You need proper planning to succeed. You don’t blow just because of luck. In fact, you need to work for that. I have been around for a while and studied the Ghanaian music scene and trust me, most of the musicians are just wasting their time and need to be told the truth,” she said.

Backing her statement, Mr Logic on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty said young talents in Ghana are quitting music due of lack of funding.

“People are quitting music in Ghana every day. Don’t find any problem with what Mo’Spence said because that is the reality, if you don’t have money, its hard to propel the talent,” he said.

Replying to comments that Mo’ Spence made that statement for ‘hype’, Mr Logic disagreed.

“If I want my artiste to make the headlines, I am news myself, I can do that myself” he said.

Camidoh is more talented than Fireboy – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/camidoh-is-more-talented-than-fireboy-mr-logic/ Fri, 17 Nov 2023 13:56:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2320601 Artiste manger, Emmanuel Barnes popularly known as Mr Logic has said Ghanaian Afrobeats singer, Camidoh is more talented as compared to Nigerian musician, Fireboy DML.

According to him, Nigerian artistes have adequate funding that helps them grow their industry.

“Camidoh is a magnificent talent compared to Fireboy. Fireboy dose not sing like Camidoh. Nigerians are so visible because of funding” he said on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty.

Mr Logic believes that, Nigerian visibility on international platforms got their artistes Grammy nominations this year.

“Nigerians were all over the world and that is why Grammy noticed them. Nigerians have money and they are buying into the American market,” he said.

This comments come after no Ghanaian musician was nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Mr. Logic urged for investment into the Ghanaian music industry.

“Let’s get more investors, our business men should invest in the craft.” he added.

Stop feeling insecure – Mr Logic tells Kuami Eugene https://www.adomonline.com/stop-feeling-insecure-mr-logic-tells-kuami-eugene/ Wed, 25 Oct 2023 14:41:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2309919 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr. Logic, has called on Kuami Eugene not to feel insecure.

According to him, Eugene is a big brand and his songs will do well even if it is not played on the airwaves consistently.

“I think Kuami is a huge brand; he should stay confident. People love him and play his songs. He feels like he is losing his grip, it’s a feeling of insecurity for me,” He stated.

Mr. Logic made the comment while reacting to Kwame Eugene’s call for the passage of Broadcast Bill.

The Bill aims to increase the playing of Ghanaian music on the airwaves, but it has raised concerns among industry professionals.

Kuami Eugene, the ‘Rockstar’ himself, has voiced his support for the bill, advocating for unity among entertainers in the fight for its passage.

He believes that 70 percent of Ghanaian music should be played to reduce the influx of foreign content in the country.

Mr. Logic, while partially agreeing with Kuami Eugene’s perspective, asserted that the legislation should not dictate what DJs play at events.

“We can have the agenda to play Ghana music, but then coming from a huge artiste like Kuami Eugene is something else” he stressed.

He emphasized the need for artistes to rather engage DJs to promote their songs, than relying solely on the passage of the Bill.

Election 2024: You will lose again – Dumelo told https://www.adomonline.com/election-2024-you-will-lose-again-dumelo-told/ Mon, 14 Aug 2023 14:33:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2283186 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has said that actor cum politician, John Dumelo, will lose the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary elections in the 2024 polls.

According to him, the constituents will retain the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Lydia Alhassan.

He expressed his disappointment in Ghana Movie Awards Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Fred Nuamah for stepping down from the contest.

To him, Mr Nuamah would have given Mr Dumelo a good run for his money.

“I was happy Fred was contesting John because, in this second attempt, John was too boastful as if he owns the place. He was so overconfident that he was winning so I was happy he was being contested just to prove that the people can change. It’s politics anyone can win but if he says he has backed down, I don’t think he’s confident enough. He doesn’t believe that people love him.

“I loved Fred Nuamah more than John and if I had the chance to vote I would vote for Fred. Aside from the fact that John is hardworking, I think he only wants to be an MP to prove a point. John will lose again because the people already have a candidate,” he said on Accra-based UTV.

In a letter addressed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s General Secretary and the chairman of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Mr Nuamah officially withdrew and threw his support behind his former political rival, Mr Dumelo.

The NDC has declared Mr Dumelo as Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary candidate for the 2024 elections.

Those calling Cecilia Dapaah a thief lack intellectual insight – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/those-calling-cecilia-dapaah-a-thief-lack-intellectual-insight-mr-logic/ Mon, 24 Jul 2023 15:15:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2276126 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has asserted that those labelling former Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Madam Cecilia Dapaah, a ‘thief’ lack intellectual insight.

He pointed out that it was not outrageous for a person of Madam Dapaah’s caliber to have $1 million in her possession at home.

“The woman is not a thief; it is her own money that people have stolen, and she wanted to be honest because she is a public official so she stepped down for investigations. I don’t see why people should think that it is outrageous for her to have that money. I see it like a bit myopic to think that way, so please I don’t support those who are saying she stole the money.”

To him, the former minister was rather being truthful when she offered to assist authorities with investigations.

“If someone wants to save his or her money at home, whether the money is for a project or family money or something, you don’t know, then all of a sudden, all of you are tagging her as a thief.  I posted that people should look for their own money and stop criticising others’ wealth, come and see insults on my page, and I had to turn off the comment session.

“People desire to be impoverished rather than live good lives, so when they see others living their best life, they label them as thieves or assume they are doing something wrong,” he said on Accra-based UTV.

The former minister announced her resignation on Saturday, July 22, 2023.

Her resignation follows public backlash over a court case that where five persons including two of her house helps are standing trial for allegedly stealing $1 million, €300,000, and millions of cedis from her Ablekuma home.

Yvonne Nelson and Sarkodie are still in love – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/yvonne-nelson-and-sarkodie-are-still-in-love-mr-logic/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 09:58:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2267343 Artiste manager, Mr Logic, says actress Yvonne Nelson and rapper Sarkodie are still deeply in love, despite the recent tension between them following the revelation in Yvonne’s book, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,’ where she disclosed having an abortion for Sarkodie in 2010.

During an appearance on UTV, Mr Logic shared his perspective, stating, “I am telling you for a fact that Yvonne Nelson still has a soft spot for Sarkodie, and that is quite clear on how she called Sarkodie Michael to fight back when he dropped ‘Try Me’.”

He further explained that Yvonne’s passionate reaction to Sarkodie’s song and her subsequent Twitter outbursts indicate her emotional attachment to the acclaimed rapper.

Mr Logic, born as Emmanuel Barnes, believes that when a woman is in love and simultaneously hurt, she tends to respond or react to anything concerning her love interest, and Yvonne’s actions exemplify this pattern.

“I am telling you that the two are talking behind the scenes, even though the public might see them to be enemies,” Mr Logic emphasized, dispelling the notion of animosity between Yvonne and Sarkodie.

The Head of Ghana Association of Songwriters also speculated on the potential for renewed intimacy between Yvonne and Sarkodie, stating, “Why would she invite Sarkodie to her house just a few days before the launch of her book? I bet you, if Sarkodie had gone, they would have made love again.”

In addition, Mr Logic expressed his belief that Sarkodie, despite being married, has not entirely let go of his feelings for Yvonne. He pointed out, “The pain and anger felt on Try Me shows it,” alluding to the emotions conveyed in Sarkodie’s song.

According to Mr Logic, the true nature of Yvonne Nelson and Sarkodie’s relationship can only be certified by the individuals involved.

The Ghanaian genre ‘Highlife’ must be changed to ‘Afrobeats’ – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/the-ghanaian-genre-highlife-must-be-changed-to-afrobeats-mr-logic-video/ Sat, 25 Mar 2023 10:22:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2232121 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has urged industry players to substitute “Highlife” with “Afrobeat” as Ghana’s indigenous genre.

According to him, the western world is hooked on the mindset that every song that comes from Africa is “Afro” hence the need for musicians in Ghana to toe the line.

“If you listen to Kelvyn Boy’s Down Flat and you check it with Wizkid and the other guys it’s the same thing, I mean Afrobeats. What has been sold already is good for us to leverage. Sark, Shatta can’t say they doing Highlife when they go international because Kwabena Kwabena and Akwaboah won’t allow that.”

He continued, “the same thing you are calling Highlife is Afrobeat. The white doesn’t care about skin colour they see all of us as blacks.”

Speaking further on Adom TV‘s Showtyme with Andy Dosty, Mr Logic emphasised that there’s no need for a Ghanaian Identity of music.

He explained that Nigerians had already sold the term “Afro” as any sound coming from Africa, hence there is no need to push other tags that will distort the trail.

“We don’t need a Ghanaian identity of music. It won’t be easy to have any of our sub-genres outside. As a continent, we all have to leverage it. The Afrobeats is not for any man. They knew the white can relate to the coin, Afrobeat.’

Mr Logic further urged Ghanaians to pay mind to the history of what led Ghanaian music to be called “Highlife”.

It is up to the generation to look for that loophole taken in their absence. The western world is always focused on evolution, changing its system. We are not prone to changes which is why we never move forward.”

“Where is the Highlife coming from? Some people think Highlife is a language… But when you sing Highlife in Krobo, they don’t regard it. Why did we accept to call it Highlife when it had so many sub-genres? We have Amponsah, Kwaw, Palm Wine Music and all these elements.”

Talking about Highlife’s history, he said: “The whites called the local boys to come and play songs every weekend. They were living a high life and the boys were playing the band for them and they decided to call it highlife music. Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi and Paapa Nyankson… The fact that they didn’t change it doesn’t mean we should accept it.”

Mr Logic further asked Ghanaian musicians to champion Osibisa’s name just like how Wizkid, Burna Boy and other Nigerians deliberately mention Fela Kuti’s name on international platforms.

“What is our mother’s genre? They will say Highlife… Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and Shatta, they are all not Highlife artistes. Those who champion it where are they internationally? You realise there is a problem. The Nigerians have used Fela’s Afrobeats and it has gone international and the whites know every Afro is African.”

Mr Logic breaks silence on Sarkodie ‘snubbing’ Ink Boy in One Million Cedis video [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/mr-logic-breaks-silence-on-sarkodie-snubbing-ink-boy-in-one-million-cedis-video-video/ Mon, 20 Mar 2023 17:59:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2230003 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has waded into the ongoing brouhaha concerning Sarkodie and Nigerian musician, Ink Boy.

According to him, he couldn’t fathom why Sarkodie will ‘deliberately’ ignore Ink Boy and shoot visuals for his One Million Cedis song without Ink Boy, who dropped ace vocals to beautify the song.

According to him, it’s either Ink Boy lobbied his way to be on the song, hence his inability to propel terms or Sarkodie didn’t want him in the visuals.

“I see it as most management will not come out with the actual details of the deal. It’s possible that Ink Boy called for the shot, thus, he begged and Sarkodie considered him, probably it wasn’t Sark’s will. How would you do a song with someone that you don’t want to do the video?” Mr Logic asked in an interview with Mike 2 on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall show.

“If you are a small artiste, in business terms, the primary agenda is for mileage, traction and revenue. But If you need some validation you need a bigger artiste. Sustaining the bar becomes a thing at a point, look at Wisa Greid becoming a big artiste.”

Mr Logic added that, Sarkodie had to feature Ink Boy in the video because he needed that advantage.

“Yes you have to feature him. Once you are using the audio you are using his intellectual property, so you cannot take him out unless he is sick. Since they have done it together and if we are going into serious conversation, he can sue if Sark was the one who invited him.

“Why are you using someone’s vocals, and you don’t want them to appear in the video? They can also ask him to take out the vocals from the main song,” Mr Logic said.

Mr Logic sends strong message to Sarkodie over Samini https://www.adomonline.com/mr-logic-sends-strong-message-to-sarkodie-over-samini/ Wed, 25 Jan 2023 12:20:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2208678 Artiste manager and musician, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has waded in the ongoing Sarkodie-Samini brouhaha on social media.

Taking to his Facebook page, Mr Logic advised Sarkodie to change his ways if what Samini said about him is true.

According to him, it has become the norm that many industry players who want to collaborate with him are criticising him for delay with verses.

He wrote: “If what Samini said about Obidi is the truth then Sark you for change. Complaint about your attitude towards some colleagues is overflowing now. 3NY3 menua, support is key.”

Earlier, Samini took to Twitter to disclose how Sarkodie failed to honour a feature they were working on. According to him, subsequent messages to connect to Sarkodie proved futile after the latter “blue-ticked” him many times without responding to his text messages.

Reacting to Samini’s claims on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show, Sarkodie apologised to Samini, adding that, “I don’t entirely believe everything he said was true, but I am sorry.”

Mr Logic slams Tinny for insulting Stonebwoy [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/mr-logic-slams-tinny-for-insulting-stonebwoy-video/ Mon, 22 Aug 2022 13:46:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2152820 Musician and Chairman of Ghana Songwriters Association, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has lambasted rapper Tinny for insulting Stonebwoy.

According to him, Tinny goofed when he called Stonebwoy a fool after the latter paid off his debt for him to be able to retrieve his seized car at Taifa Police Station.

If not because Tinny is a brother, we would have taken it very far. Seriously, he is my guy… if it was someone else, we will have insulted him. We see this as unacceptable. We will let it slide and no one should try these things again.

Reacting further, Mr Logic said Stonebwoy was only trying to show Tinny ‘brotherly love’ by killing the issue, hence Tinny’s unfortunate gesture wasn’t apt.

Stonebwoy shouldn’t have called you. You should have rather called him to go back for the money if the story wasn’t true. Everyone and how they were brought up. Socially, we are all grown to understand that we have to apply maturity. He could have avoided that of Stonebwoy’s part and dealt with the others because Stonebwoy did nothing wrong. Tinny didn’t try, Mr Logic said.

According to Mr Logic, he doesn’t believe there is a structured record label in Ghana because the requirements for a proper record label don’t exist in Ghana.

But sticking to the definition, Bulldog disagreed by asserting that any organisation that manages the affair of an artiste for growth purposes can be said to be a record label.

Per Mr Logic’s understanding, however, most record labels in Ghana are only management teams calling themselves record labels, but Bulldog of BullHaus Entertainment disagreed.

The disagreement caused the duo to have a back-and-forth in the studio until Andy Dosty intervened.

There is no baton in music – Mr Logic tells Hammer over controversial Facebook post [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/there-is-no-baton-in-music-mr-logic-tells-hammer-over-controversial-facebook-post/ Tue, 26 Jul 2022 15:09:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2142206 Artiste manager and chairman of Songwriter’s Association, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has slammed veteran producer, Hammer for choosing sides in the music space.

According to him, Hammer is a strong pillar in the music sphere, hence he ought not to post images of some musicians to talk about the music industry as a whole.

In a Facebook post, the music producer posted images of Black Sherif, Amaarae, Kidi and Camidoh urging Ghanaians to throw their weight behind them and some new crop of artistes.

But the post didn’t make a full impact when some industry players felt Hammer sidelined pacesetters and some young musicians who are putting Ghana on the map.

Hammer of The Last Two is a record producer in the Ghanaian music industry. He is the founder and CEO of The Last Two Music Group and is also known for grooming some of the best Ghanaian Hip Hop or Hiplife artists, including Obrafour, Tinny, Kwaw Kese, Sarkodie, Ayigbe Edem, and others.
Hammer

Mr Logic said: “As a huge brand as Hammer is… when you say this then all the brands come to play. There is a new breed, but you can never say that because there is no baton in music. With all due respect. It’s about changes.

“It’s like Obrafour giving a baton to Sarkodie. It’s wrong for commercial purposes. Haven’t we discussed that? If a milk brand introduces another brand over theirs, then there comes a problem.

“It’s wrong for hammer to make such a post. Hammer, you are an authority. I know your level when it comes to this area… Do you know what that means to me?”

Nonetheless, in a riposte on the same Daybreak Hitz show, Hammer said his post was misunderstood.

According to him, he didn’t put together the photos that he used for his write-up. He explained that much emphasis should be paid on the caption than the photos.

Edem sounds like a ‘tribal freak’ – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/edem-sounds-like-a-tribal-freak-mr-logic-video/ Thu, 26 May 2022 15:54:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2118651 Musician and pundit on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has slammed rapper Edem over his claim that some companies wanted to pay him less due to his ethnic background.

In his view, Edem is pushing a tribal agenda in the entertainment industry.

Mr. Logic said until Edem backs his allegation with evidence and mention the names of the supposed companies, it must be treated with the contempt it deserves.

That sounds like a tribal freak to me. What is Ewe? Edem is my guy, but I don’t like that thing he put out. I want him to understand that there is nothing like Ewe, Kwahu or Ashanti, Mr Logic told the host, Sammy Forson.

Throwback video of Mr Logic prophesying on Black Sherif’s career pops up https://www.adomonline.com/throwback-video-of-mr-logic-prophesying-on-black-sherifs-career-pops-up/ Tue, 05 Apr 2022 14:39:36 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2100659 Entertainment pundit and artiste manager Mr Logic came under severe heat after he criticised Black Sherif over lyrics of his Kwaku the Traveller song making waves globally.

The pundit, born as Emmanuel Barnes and also Chairman of the Songwriters Association of Ghana, was lambasted by loyal fans of Black Sherif after he felt uncomfortable with some portions of his lyrics.

Mr Logic, speaking on Daybreak Hitz, said Black Sherif sounded proud and ignorant on the song and that he [Mr Logic] did not really enjoy it.

He further added that, he wanted Black Sherif to feel remorseful rather than query “who hasn’t fuck-d up put your hands in the air”.

But according to the fans, Mr Logic has been negative towards the ‘Second Sermon’ hitmaker, adding that, Mr Logic should rather push the musician to the top than denigrate him.

Meanwhile, Mr Logic has said many times that he was one of the the few people who predicted the future of Black Sherif.

Over the weekend on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall show, Mr Logic clarified his statement saying he never wants to put Black Sherif in the bad light because he believes in his talent and would want him to excel beyond the borders of Ghana.

Additionally, a video of Black Sherif’s appearance on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz has since popped up signifying Mr Logic’s intentions for the rapper who is currently topping charts in Ghana, Nigeria and other parts of the world.

Meanwhile, speaking on Daybreak Hitz on April 5, 2022, Mr Logic said he has taken a stance to be dishonest with his analysis on issues.

He told Andy Dosty that people are too quick to object to his submissions and end up being very vulgar and disrespectful to him on social media.

“I don’t have an opinion anymore. After a few observations, I have decided that I am not going to say the truth anymore,” he declared.

No one is born with the talent to sing commercially – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/no-one-is-born-with-the-talent-to-sing-commercially-mr-logic/ Tue, 05 Apr 2022 11:33:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2100356 Artiste manager and chairman of Ghana Songwriters Association, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, says there is no musician who was born to become a successful singer.

According to him, unlike other artisans such as carpenters among others who can claim to be talented, singing can be thought.

He explained that, it always looks funny to him when fans praise their favourite musicians as being talented whereas most learn to rap and sing professionally.

No one was born with a talent to sing commercially. You will go through people and people will groom you. So that talent is passion instead. It is an urge in you that says you can sing like an artiste.

After having the passion you need to understand what it takes. Ask the people why they move from rapping to singing. And that makes you a new person. It becomes a professional work once you decide to go into it, he explained on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall over the weekend.

Per Logic, musicians who claim to be talented right from birth should come to the world with their pre-recorded songs.

God has given you the ability and given you people to help you. Why don’t you record your song from heaven if you are born talented? They are saying everyone is talented so once a professional criticises they tag you, he said.

Let’s vote NPP out if they fail to account for the E-levy – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/lets-vote-npp-out-if-they-fail-to-account-for-the-e-levy-mr-logic/ Tue, 05 Apr 2022 11:26:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2100274 Controversial radio and TV personality, Mr Logic, says Ghanaians should vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if they fail to account for the E-levy.

Speaking on the matter, he reminded the citizens of their power to unseat a governing party, should they fail to fulfil their promises.

“Since the NPP said they will be accountable for the E-levy, let’s wait and see. If they fail to be accountable, we will vote them out,” he told the special host of the show, Efia Odo.

According to Mr Logic, passing of the e-levy is a step in the right direction, because, the world is going cashless.

Therefore, Ghanaians should comply with the new tax scheme responsibly and do away with the bickering.

“Let’s start being very responsible and stop complaining about the levy,” he said.

In his perspective, digital transactions, irrespective of the charges, are more convenient than holding huge sums of money and transporting it to the recipient’s destination.

The outspoken showbiz pundit added that it is more expensive and time-consuming to make transactions in-person, since one would have to board a car or wait for long periods in queues to make withdrawals at banks and other money vending points.

“If I send GH₵ 1,000 and I am charged GH₵ 20, I might consider that too much. But if I have to deliver it in person, I would have to leave my house, go to the vendor to make a withdrawal, or withdraw the money from the bank. Now, if I board a car, don’t I have to pay for the fare?” he quizzed on UTV.

“I wonder why we always complain. That is why we are not moving forward as a people,” he added.

In his pursuit to remain neutral, Mr Logic declared that he will not blame the NDC nor the NPP for the poor state of the economy, since complaining does not contribute to reviving it.

The electronic levy bill was finally passed by Parliament on March 29, 2022, after months of deliberation by the two opposing groups, the Majority (NPP) and the Minority (NDC).

The bill introduces a 1.5 percent tax on electronic money transfers and transactions.

According to the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, the tax is likely to take effect in May 2022.

According to him, he loves to wear expensive accessories and would never prefer to wear jewelries if they are inferior.

Seated as a pundit on the show with all these ‘expensive’ jewelry, Mr Logic said it has been his lifestyle since his inception into the entertainment space years ago.

How do you ask me if this is fake? I would choose to wear nothing than to wear a fake jewelry that will cause reactions around my neck.

I don’t like to show off. I do like what’s genuine even though I don’t consider myself rich. Why would I wear fake jewelry to have rashes around my neck? He told the host Mike 2.

Meanwhile, Mr Logic has been in the news and has been trending on Twitter after he made some statements with regards to rapper Black Sherif.

He has since been touted as a hater of the musician but Mr Logic still maintains that he never wants Black Sherif’s career in the mud.

Few days after the musician released his Kwaku the Traveller song which has been topping charts in Nigeria’s Apple Music charts, Mr Logic said the content of the song depicted a Black Sherif who felt like “he has reached”.

According to him, he expected Black Sherif to show a little emotion of remorsefulness after he was slammed for signing a new contract over his original label team.

But it all climaxed after the duo met on UTV’s show over the weekend to smoke the peace pipe after many disagreements.

According to Mr Logic, he had no idea that Black Sherif aka Blacko had recorded the Kwaku the Traveller song prior to his issues with management.

Check out what happened when Black Sherif came face-to-face with Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/check-out-what-happened-when-black-sherif-came-face-to-face-with-mr-logic/ Sun, 03 Apr 2022 12:18:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2099693 Tensions were high when budding artiste Black Sherif came face-to-face with his critic, Mr Logic.

Since his introduction into Ghana’s music scene, Mr Logic has made it his business to hammer the Hip-Hop artiste even when popular opinions are in his [Sherif] favour.

In recent times, Mr Logic has been at the centre of series of backlashes for what netizens believe is a deliberate and targeted attack on the musician’s ego.

He was forced to clear the air that he has no animosity towards Sherif, but he just voices out his opinion constructively.

After that issue died down, the ‘enemies’ found themselves under the same roof for an entertainment show.

Black Sherif put many to shame when he politely greeted Mr Logic, before taking his seat for the show.

Though choosing not to share the same seat, Mr Logic, in turn, saluted Black Sherif.

They both served as pundits, and had the opportunity to transform their online sentiments into a real life rebuttal against each other.

I have no issues with Black Sherif – Mr Logic clears air over criticism https://www.adomonline.com/i-have-no-issues-with-black-sherif-mr-logic-clears-air-over-criticism/ Thu, 31 Mar 2022 13:47:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2098636 Controversial radio personality and artiste manager, Mr Logic, has come under series of backlash for his recent criticism on fast-rising singer, Black Sherif.

However, the outspoken entertainment pundit cleared the air on the perception that he hates him, declaring that he has no feud with the young singer.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty on Hitz 103.9 FM, he said: “I do not have any issue with Black Sherif. Never. I like him,” he pointed.

This comes after Mr Logic expressed his thoughts on Blacko’s latest single, ‘Kwaku The Traveller’, saying that he didn’t really enjoy the song.

Mr Logic has consistently been on Black Sherif’s case ever since the RBA artiste’s issues with his purported financier, Snap Chavis Wayne, came to light.

Be that as it may, Mr Logic explained his actual reasons for being firmly objective with his submissions regarding the ‘First Sermon’ hit-maker.

He said that, Ghanaians are quick to forget positive remarks, thus, he [Mr Logic] recounted a moment when he praised Blacko for being an outstanding singer among the Kumerican artistes, but, people have failed to remember he ever said that.

“It was on this same platform that Black Sherif will be the only Kumerican artiste who will go far. Where was Black Sherif when I said that? Did Sherif hear it or not? Did his team hear it? Do you know of calls I got due to that? But I still stood firm on my grounds and words. I never retracted. But when I said he is being one-way, you are saying ‘bring him down’,” he stressed.

But in spite of that, Mr Logic commended Black Sherif for his cadence and tremendous delivery on his songs and the ones he’s featured on.

He urged the ‘Second Sermon’ hit-maker to stick to the style he is famously known for.

He also advised Blacko to pay critical attention to constructive criticism, and remain wary of people who always praise him regardless of his flaws.

Psychological tests should be part of getting driver’s license in Ghana – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/psychological-tests-should-be-part-of-getting-drivers-license-in-ghana-mr-logic/ Mon, 28 Mar 2022 22:32:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2097065 Controversial radio personality and artiste manager, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, says 60 per cent of Ghanaian drivers are not mentally sound.

According to Mr Logic, this “survey” makes it imperative for the Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to include “psychological tests” as a requirement for issuing driver’s license to applicants.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz, he said “going forward, we should add psychological tests as part of getting driver’s license in Ghana. That is because 60% of drivers in the country are mentally unstable,” he told Andy Dosty on Hitz FM.

As a way to vent his frustration, he lamented that most of the drivers on the road are ‘mad’, and this should serve as an awakening to the DVLA to review the driver’s license acquisition process, otherwise, the rate of road accidents would not lessen anytime soon.

“The number of mad men on our roads eh, if DVLA doesn’t wake up to make ‘psychological tests’ a driver’s licensing requirement, accidents would not stop in this country. I am telling you,” he averred.

This outburst comes after Mr Logic survived a life-threatening motor accident on Monday morning due to a reckless driving steered by a ‘trotro’ driver, who with full speed, overtook more than seven vehicles ahead of him, forcing other commuters on the left lane to drift to the right lane under duress.

This led to an altercation among the drivers and passengers, who nearly took matters into their own hands, after the ‘trotro’ driver refused to take responsibility for his actions.

The incident happened on the Wisconsin University road leading to the GIMPA stretch.

Mr Logic went further to argue that motor accidents in the country are not solely caused by the poor conditions of the roads, but the behaviour of undisciplined drivers is part of the menace.

The outspoken on-air personality admonished that road accidents would reduce drastically in Ghana, should the DVLA heed to his call.

Real women need good sex, not money – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/real-women-need-good-sex-not-money-mr-logic/ Wed, 23 Mar 2022 19:33:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2095234 Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr. Logic, says the most important tool to keep a real woman is good sex.

Speaking to Andy Dosty and other pundits on Daybreak Hitz, the controversial entertainment pundit mentioned that, most men think money is the most important thing needed to keep a real woman. Though he admits that it is vital, he argued that good sex comes on top of the list.

According to him, women are delicate and should be handled with care, especially when it comes to their sexual desires.

“Real women do not need money; all they need is good sex. They need respect, attention, security and good sex. If you like buy a house for your woman and don’t give her good sex and see what happens.”

This conversation emerged on Daybreak Hitz, after a song by musician Gambo titled ‘Boys Aye Wild’ was played on the show. The song talks about how important money is in relationships. The content throws light on how some men are snatching the girlfriends of their fellow men with money.

There’s a widely acclaimed notion that to keep a woman one has to be financially sound. This notion has caused a lot of young men do all sorts of dubious things to make money just to spend on their women.

However, Mr. Logic suggests that this notion is false and has to be changed.

People who blame Nana Akufo-Addo for the increment in fuel prices are illiterates – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/people-who-blame-nana-akufo-addo-for-the-increment-in-fuel-prices-are-illiterates-mr-logic-video/ Sun, 20 Mar 2022 15:35:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2093412 Radio personality, Emmanuel Barnes, also known as Mr Logic, says people who attribute the hike in fuel prices to Nana Akufo-Addo, are not well-lettered.

He believes the perception that the President should be held responsible for the incessant rise in fuel prices in the country is a conversation that merits less attention.

Speaking on Matter Dey on Hitz FM, he said “I was listening to a certain radio station this morning where I heard people saying ‘Nana Addo is a liar, a thief and a wicked man’, all this people are illiterates – people who do not read nor do any research,” he told Kofi Hayford.

According to him, the rice in fuel prices is one that affects the entire globe, not Ghana alone, therefore, Ghanaians should stop complaining.

Seemingly, he is of the opinion that fuel is even more expensive in European countries than it is in Ghana, where a litre is sold at GHS 10, whereas the same level is sold at €11, (equal to GHS 88), in France for instance.

He also envisioned the likelihood of an unrest in the country, should a litre be sold at GHS 88 in Ghana in the near future.

“If Europe is buying one gallon for 11 euros, [equivalent to GHS 88 per gallon], imagine what would happen if a litre is sold at GHS 88 in Ghana – people will go on hunger strike, some will go for demonstration, some will be thinking of unnecessary things because the price a litre has gotten to that level,” he said.

Interestingly enough, he suggested that the public outcry on the increment of fuel prices is loud because Ghana is running on the single spine system for the working population, unlike other European countries, who are running the double shift system.

As a consequence, Ghanaians who complain about the high prices of commodities do so because they do not have enough money to take care of themselves, let alone pay for fuel and transport fares at heightened prices, as opposed to Europeans, who are able to do two-three jobs in a day, in order to widen their income base.

Mr Logic says Europe is only better than Ghana because of their ability to run multiple jobs in a day. He quickly added that Ghana’s incapacity to adopt the European system is where they fall short.

“The only difference between Ghana and Europe is, they have a double shift system, where you can do about 2 or 3 jobs. And we have single spine – that’s our biggest problem. I don’t understand why government cannot see that the single sine is not helping us,” he noted.

Per Mr Logic, Ghana’s adaptation of double shift system will have a huge positive impact, which is likely to redeem the economy from financial crisis; reducing the rate at which citizens lament, since they are earning a significant amount of income.

“The moment we are able to change and move away from the single spine, nobody will complain about some of these developments. The average person could earn about GHS 15,000 a month from doing 2-3 jobs in a day,” he opined.

Abena Korkor is a liar – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/abena-korkor-is-a-liar-mr-logic-video/ Sun, 20 Mar 2022 10:58:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2093392 Outspoken radio personality, Mr. Logic, says socialite and sexual health consultant, Abena Korkor, is not who she claims to be.

This comes after she recently accused some A-list celebs of sleeping with her, alleging that one of them is bad at his sex game.

In a conversation with Kofi Hayford on Matter Dey on Hitz FM, Mr. Logic said, “I dey dare Abena Korkor today, I am daring her to come out. If she can prove me wrong I will pay any fine, even if it has to do with selling all my belongings,” he vowed.

Few days after Abena Korkor’s accusations went viral on social media, she quickly made a U-turn to apologize to the singer, among many others, who have had their image and reputation publicly tarnished by her.

“I render a general apology to all men and women whose image I have tarnished by dragging our private business to the limelight. I will not attribute all my actions to bipolar disorder. I am seriously dealing with some mistakes I made in the past and my childhood trauma,” she posted on Twitter on Friday, 18th March.

This, according to Mr. Logic, is one of the tools she employs to attract sympathy and enjoys the atmosphere of hysteria it creates on social media.

Although she has made herself widely known on social media for being a Mental Health Ambassador, Sexual Health Consultant, who suffers from bipolar, the opinionated radio personality believes that it is all a façade.

“Abena Korkor is not a Mental Health Advocate. Okay, maybe you can say she is. But ‘ein mind dey’. If your ‘mind dey’, you cannot advocate for mental health. Unless you are someone who has suffered some sort of mental illness and recovered successfully,” said the controversial radio personality.

“Abena Korkor dey use ein mind give Ghanaians. I am telling her today that, she is using her mind for the people. Ein mind dey. You see the word ‘bipolar’, don’t even use the word to acknowledge her. She is 100% normal,” he added.

He opined that Abena Korkor has devised a strategy to psychologically keep herself in business after identifying that her “I don’t care” attitude is yielding some ‘positive’ results.

“These are all methods. See, you don’t accuse people and then come back to apologize. She has realized that the whole country is enjoying the drama of mentioning people’s names, the frenzy it attracts, [Hey, Abena Korkor ein list come oo], my brother, Abena Korkor ein mind dey,” he declared.

Furthermore, Mr. Logic suggested that the self-acclaimed Mental Health Advocate occasionally grows weary of her periodic outburst on social media, and often puzzled on when to completely stop, or get on with mentioning names of people she had allegedly slept with.

“She is frustrated because she has already initiated that life. It is hard for her to come out. She doesn’t know how to stop, and when to continue. She takes a break and then comes back again. She is not mad,” he observed.

There is no place like Heaven after death – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/there-is-no-place-like-heaven-after-death-mr-logic-video/ Fri, 04 Mar 2022 11:29:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2086979 Entertainment pundit at Hitz FM and chairman of Songwriters Association of Ghana, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, says there is no Heaven after one’s demise.

According to him, Africans have been brainwashed to believe that when one dies, there is a spiritual golden city awaiting them in a place called Heaven.

The Red Panther Music CEO said unlike whites who believe Heaven is right here on earth, black people find it difficult to believe there is no life after death.

Per Mr Logic, the soul in the human body will go back to the maker, adding that, there is no way you can enjoy after death.

Yes your soul will go to the maker but there is no street of gold so people should be allowed to live their fullness of life here on earth. That is how the whites think. They have built the heaven around their lifestyles thus you live your heavenly life and when you are dead you are gone.

He further explained that the Heaven ideology forms part of the reasons why politicians show apathetic concerns towards development in the continent.

But in Africa, people are waiting to die and go to heaven so the leaders have left us with no support and poverty… all in the quest that when you die you go to Heaven to enjoy.

There is no Heaven anywhere. if you are not a spiritualist, you won’t understand. The soul goes somewhere but the soul you cannot see so how do you even justify. There is no where you can go and call souls back to life, he said.

It’s better for managers to marry female artistes they manage – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/its-better-for-managers-to-marry-female-artistes-they-manage-mr-logic/ Tue, 22 Feb 2022 23:02:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2083264 Entertainment critic, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has reiterated the need for artiste managers to date female musicians they work with.

According to him, it goes a long way to get the music career secured because the sacrifices made by both parties will hardly be in vain.

He explained that, it will equally compel the manager to go beyond his normal strength to pull more strings because they are both working towards a shared future.

Mr Logic’s statement follows gospel musician Celestine Donkor getting married to her manager and husband Mr Kofi Donkor.

When Mr Logic noticed they’ve tied the knot for almost 16 years, he commended the couple and urged others to toe the line if possible.

That’s why we are saying when you are managing the females, marry them, Mr Logic said on the Daybreak Hitz show, hosted by Andy Dosty.

Mr Logic further recounted how he encountered Celestine Donkor and her husband in Kumasi when they were prepping for a show.

I met you guys in Kumasi and your husband was flying left and right with you. And someone will tell me that after all this grooming someone should come and carry you away, it cant happen, Mr Logic said.

Meanwhile, Mr Logic isn’t the first industry player asking managers and their female artiste to have a secret relationship.

According to Shatta Wale’s manager, Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog, its always apt to date a female musician when one is working with her.

Only Black Sherif will benefit from ‘Second Sermon’ remix, not Burna Boy – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/only-black-sherif-will-benefit-from-second-sermon-remix-not-burna-boy-mr-logic-video/ Wed, 08 Dec 2021 19:22:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2055775 Artiste manager and Hitz FM pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has asked critics to avoid the talk that Burna Boy did a remix of Black Sherif’s ‘Second Sermon’ because he wants to tap into the latter’s fan base.

According to him, the remix will rather benefit Black Sherif more than Burna Boy because the Grammy-award winner is so far gone.

He explained that the thought of some critics that Burna Boy is riding on Black Sherif’s fame is baseless because Black Sherif, also known as Blacko, deserves Burna Boy’s numbers and not the other way round.

Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz, he further advised Ghanaians to forgo such gestures because it will only compel A-list musicians to stop doing songs with the emerging acts.

Likening it to the Ghana music industry, Mr Logic asked Ghanaians to stop comparing new acts with musicians who are already on top of the ladder.

He added that up-and-coming musicians will always need the help of cemented musicians to attain the limelight through endorsements and song features.

Sarkodie doesn’t need people to rise. The young ones need him, it’s like saying Shatta and Stonebwoy are tapping into the fanbase of the little ones… That thing you people should stop. In the music space, you’ll need a bigger brand if you are just an emerging act.

The song is trending and Burna will benefit nothing. He only reached out because he loved the song. You will let the big artistes leave the small ones to suffer their way to the top. Now Nigerians will love Black Sherif. How is Sarkodie going to tap from these young ones? What fan base do they have? It puts me off to hear such things.

In a new interview with DJ Semtex on ‘Hip hop, Raised Me’, Sarkodie said that traditional radio in Ghana was not ready to play his songs when he started his musical journey.

“Mainstream radio in Ghana wasn’t ready to play any of my records because it didn’t make sense. We were rapping on some beat they didn’t term as commercial,” Sarkodie said.

According to Mr Logic, Sarkodie’s claim that he built his own fanbase through the internet is wrong. Mr Logic said the musician still enjoys the benefits he receives today due to the massive support mainstream media in the country offered and continues to offer him.

“Ghanaians love Sarkodie; people are dying to have Sarkodie’s verse on their record. “The way we appreciate you [Sarkodie], don’t watch some few people who dey throw jabs and do some things to misjudge,” he entreated him.

It’s difficult for Ghanaian musicians to get access to Nigerian media space – Mr Logic https://www.adomonline.com/its-difficult-for-ghanaian-musicians-to-get-access-to-nigerian-media-space-mr-logic/ Fri, 08 Oct 2021 12:30:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2025782 Artiste Manager and entertainment pundit, Mr Logic, born Emmanuel Barnes, says the Nigerian music industry is protected, making it difficult for Ghanaian musicians to fully penetrate through their market.

According to him, Nigerians always endeavour to push their own musicians than foreigners, a situation he says is different in Ghana.

Speaking on the Daybreak Hitz show, Mr Logic advised Ghanaians to learn from their colleagues in Nigeria in order to promote the crafts of local artistes.

“I know Nigerians will not be happy with this but if you go to Nigeria, it’s not easy to get on their radio shows. Their media space is protected, there is a borderline in their music industry.

“I wanted to host a show on Silverbird; I got the approval and everything because I had some unique materials that I brought from abroad. They told me that until there is a Nigerian co-host, the show cannot go on TV, and it’s the truth.

“The Nigerian guy never came, I’m sure behind the scenes, they were telling him not to come.

“This is how Nigerians protect their own. Don’t be surprised when Davido says ‘our people love us.’ It is a patriotic way of holding your people. Ghanaians should learn from them,” he urged.

MORE:

Meanwhile, Ghanaian-based Nigerian on-air personality, Etim Essang, holds a contrary opinion.

He believes Ghanaian artistes are not making the necessary moves to plunge themselves into the Nigerian markets.

“Ghanaian acts don’t make the move. It’s sad to say they don’t make the move. If you watch, just this week alone, you find that there’s a couple of Nigerian acts in Ghana. What are they trying to do? They’re trying to put themselves in your face. They want the Ghanaian people to understand and enjoy their craft.

“They try to put the Twi in their songs because they want to get into the Ghanaian market. Tell me the last time KiDi, Kuame Eugene, King Promise went to Nigeria to do a media tour,” he queried.

Background

Talented songstress, Ateaa Tina, sharing her view, said there is nothing wrong if Nigerian songs are played in Ghana.

According to her, Nigeria and Ghana have so much in common because they are neighbouring countries.

Though she has not been to Nigeria, she said it is not wrong if Nigerian songs are played in Ghana.

However, she added that Nigerian music shouldn’t be played more than Ghanaian music.

Stop killing talents, I’m better than your artiste Kahpun – Masaany slams Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/stop-killing-talents-im-better-than-your-artiste-kahpun-masaany-slams-mr-logic-video/ Wed, 29 Sep 2021 19:04:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2021828 Reggae and dancehall musician, Masaany, has slammed artiste manager and entertainment pundit Mr Logic after the latter clashed with him on Hitz FM.

According to Masaany, he has been an ardent follower of Mr Logic’s contribution in the entertainment sphere and labelled him as one who is always killing talents of up-and-coming musicians.

During Masaany’s interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic asked him to stop speaking fake Jamaican patois because it wasn’t in line with phonetics but Masaany asked Logic to respect him since he, Mr Logic, is a big player in the music industry.

According to Masaany, none of the musicians that Mr Logic manages, especially Kahpun can do music better than him.

But Mr Logic laughed it off and asked Masaany to find time and listen to Kahpun.

Stop doing music if you don’t have money – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/stop-doing-music-if-you-dont-have-money-mr-logic-video/ Wed, 22 Sep 2021 12:16:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2018714 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has advised up-and-coming musicians to quit their careers if they don’t have investors.

According to him, lots of talents have gone down the drain due to a lack of funds, adding that the music industry is more about business than entertainment.

Speaking on the Daybreak Hitz show, Mr Logic advised struggling musicians to look for money first before venturing into music.

Stop doing music if you don’t have money; it’s not about talent. Do you know how many talents have gone down the drain? How do you make money if you don’t have an investor?

The mistake we make in Ghana is that most people compare viral songs to hit songs… For songs that have been scheduled, you will blow right now… When your song is planned for rotation with media houses, watch how it will work easily.

Talking further on why Nigerians have dominated the music charts in Africa with their songs, Mr Logic said they’re business-oriented, unlike the others.

Nigerians have investors who are willing to pitch… Where did Fireboy DML and the rest come from? If you are not inclined with the online market and not ready to put down money, it won’t work, he said.

Why Mr Logic wants musicians to pay more ‘payola’ after GHAMRO’s announcement https://www.adomonline.com/why-mr-logic-wants-musicians-to-pay-more-payola-after-ghamros-announcement/ Tue, 07 Sep 2021 13:16:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2011497 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has urged musicians to pay more ‘payola’ to gain more airplay.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz Mr Logic said this on the hills of an announcement by the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) that it has entered into an agreement with some companies to provide digital monitoring systems to help in tracking how songs by Ghanaian musicians are used on radio, television, and digital platforms.

According to him, it is a guaranteed way to ensure that their music fetches them more royalties through airplay.

This is the time to pay payola so you can benefit. Now you have to pay payola to be paid. Go and pay payola so the DJs can play your songs so you can be paid…, he said.

In recent times, Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, revealed that he has received an amount of only 2,000 Ghana Cedis since he signed his rights to GHAMRO.

MORE:

This statement raised a lot of questions about the royalty system in Ghana and how musicians are to receive royalties due them.

Speaking at a press conference on August 31, 2021, the Chief Executive Officer of GHAMRO, Abraham Adjetey, said the long wait for getting a digital means of monitoring music, was over.

According to him, they have contracted CAPASSO, a copyright society in South Africa versed in Digital Rights Licensing, to monitor online digital platforms for Ghanaian songs.

According to him, after the exercise, they have been able to make $49,000 for GHAMRO right owners.

Mr Logic believes the system has been fixed through all these measures taken by the organisation.

According to him, it’s in the right direction to help unknown artistes earn money through royalties.

The system has been fixed. GHAMRO has fixed the country and all you need to do is to pay to be played so you can be paid…, he climaxed the assertion.

Speaking on Hitz FM‘s Daybreak Hitz show, the Chairman of the Songwriters Association in Ghana said D Black is making a mistake by attempting to push so many artistes at the same time.

According to him, signing more than five musicians on a record label and trying to push their brands at the same time will yield nothing.

Mr Logic opined that D Black will have to drop his music career before he attempts to control that of others in the right path.

Additionally, he asked D Black to draw a timeline with artiste signed to his label so he could push them chronologically with enough focus.

READ ALSO:

It doesn’t make sense to pack 6 to 7 acts on a label. It’s about concentration… so an act like Kobla Jnr, you need to give him time to push the magic. If you have many, you will have divided attention.

I think it’s the same reason Freda Rhymez left… as an artiste, managing another act, you have to put yours on hold for a while… we all do singing and I cannot keep up with mine because I have artiste around me.

Now, almost everyone has left… Freda is no more and she would have been a great rapper. You’ve got seven artiste so you need to strategise and push them year by year, Mr Logic said.

Mr Logic reacts to Yaw Tog, Stormzy brouhaha [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/mr-logic-reacts-to-yaw-tog-stormzy-brouhaha-video/ Thu, 08 Jul 2021 17:01:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1984286 Artiste manager and chairman of the Songwriters Association of Ghana, Mr Logic, has slammed rapper Yaw Tog and his management team over statements he made about United Kingdom (UK) rapper Stormzy.

The ‘young bull’ has been trending on social media after he admitted in an interview that he and Stormzy benefited from the Sore collaboration they worked on, which also featured Kwesi Arthur.

In the interview, Yaw Tog admitted that Stormzy gave him a solid foundation on the international scene due to the collaboration, adding that, he equally gave the UK rapper a local push.

But reacting to this, Mr Logic said Yaw Tog needs to be coached because “he doesn’t know how to speak.”

MORE:

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic asked Yaw Tog’s management to rather voice out on the issue than resorting to their comfort zones as they trend on social media.

He is wrong for saying he made people hear from him. You know the weight of the two… It’s unfortunate he spoke like that… If he did say this he didn’t try… I would not agree, he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Logic isn’t the only industry creative bashing Yaw Tog as radio presenter Sammy Forson also did same.

Sammy Forson is right… he spoke carelessly paa… we respect predecessors… this is something I am telling Yaw and his management. If the young man doesn’t know how to communicate, they should talk to him.

They should prepare questionnaires so they prep him. Do you know what it takes to come up as a rapper in the UK? First of all, he refused to speak on the matter isn’t well with me, he told Andy Dosty.

According to Medikal, when he chanced on the video on social media, he wasn’t happy about how Mr Logic went about degrading the craft of the Sore hitmaker.

According to Mr Logic, Yaw Tog is overhyped and the buzz created around his craft doesn’t amount to the content he is producing.

But Medikal, who was seated for an interview on the Daybreak Hitz show, told Mr Logic he didn’t like his submission about the rapper who attained limelight through the Kumerican vibe.

I didn’t like how you spoke about him. As I was coming up there are a lot of things I said but now I don’t anymore… If you see his talent in a different light, some people also see it differently. If you say things like that it kills the vim of people who look up to him. You didn’t say it well and that is my opinion, Medikal said.

But Mr Logic, who claimed people misunderstood him, still maintained his assertion about Yaw Tog’s rap, adding that, he only wanted to big him up to do better.

Yaw Tog is overhyped – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/yaw-tog-is-overhyped-mr-logic-video/ Fri, 28 May 2021 17:04:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1965782 Artiste manager and chairman of Songwriters Association of Ghana, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, says young rapper Yaw Tog‘s music debut has been blown out of proportion.

According to him, the Sore hitmaker makes no sense per lyrics of his songs, hence he cannot comprehend why Ghanaians are throwing heavyweight behind him on the international scene.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic said Yaw Tog’s lyrics aren’t as rich as an A-list artiste, hence Ghanaians shouldn’t hail him as such.

He explained that the “young bull” needs a coach and technical advisers to show him the way otherwise his career might amount to nothing.

MORE:

He doesn’t make any sense in his songs and I will say it with authority. There is difference between being talented and making sense. He has the zeal but why do you think his mother is pushing him to go back to school?

Its because she has seen there is a lot ahead of the boy that she wouldn’t want fame to get into his head to deviate from education because he needs to learn upgrade himself with education so he can transfer that into his songs.

Reacting further, Mr Logic said he respects Yaw Tog’s mother for seeing to it that his son is still enrolled in school.

I really respect his mum when he said he should go to school…. that’s how I knew he will become something. If you listen to his songs, what dey inside? He quizzed.

One of the rappers championing the Ghanaian Drill music genre, aka Asakaa, is Yaw Tog. He released his maiden EP, ‘TIME’ not long ago and it made waves on social media.

His recent hit song, Sore, put Ghana on the map and the remix with United Kingdom’s rapper Stormzy and BET nominee Kwesi Arthur cemented his craft.

Mr Logic sends harsh words to Kevin Taylor over Stonebwoy https://www.adomonline.com/mr-logic-sends-harsh-words-to-kevin-taylor-over-stonebwoy/ Mon, 24 May 2021 13:59:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1963346 “Kevin Taylor is knowledgeable but not wise, he just talks for the moment and doesn’t think of his words before spewing them out.”

This is the opinion entertainment pundit, Mr Logic, has of loudmouth social commentator, Mr Taylor, for issuing threats to the family of Stonebwoy.

Mr Taylor made waves on social media after jabbing Stonebwoy for advising Ghanaians not to politicise the #Fixthecountry advocacy.

He went as far as predicting that while Stonebwoy is having a time of his life in the United Kingdom, a call will come through his phone, announcing to him that a thug, dissatisfied with the system, has shot both his wife and daughter in the head.

Reacting to what he described as a loose talk, Stonebwoy has revealed he expects a retraction and apology, else he will involve the police.

MORE

An arrest of Mr Taylor, to Mr Logic, will be a step in the right direction, however, he is pessimistic it would tame the ‘wild bull’.

Mr Logic believes if Mr Taylor would be restricted from accessing social media, his voice would be rendered powerless and Ghanaians will have the peace they deserve.

Odeefour, another panelist invited to Adom TV‘s weekend entertainment show, Ahosepe Xtra, said Mr Taylor feeds on the status of high profile persons to gain hype.

Mr Logic recounts how fake mallam asked him to bath in the sea [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/mr-logic-recounts-how-fake-mallam-asked-him-to-bath-in-the-sea-video/ Tue, 13 Apr 2021 18:57:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1947662 Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Mr Logic, has disclosed how he lost GH¢ 7,000.00 to a fake mallam who promised him a better life.

Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz show on Hitz FM, Mr Logic said his cold experience opened his eyes to life.

According to him, he was a radio presenter at one radio station in Accra when the incident happened.

He said the mallam frequently visited his show and charmed monies which he later gave out to the staff in the studio.

He said the mallam at a point invited him to come over to his place of abode in the Northern part of Ghana.

I trusted him, I moved from Accra to Savelugu… but when I got there I had to move like from Hitz FM to Taifa – a quiet road with no houses. I left my hotel with a motor around 2:am…, he told Andy Dosty.

Upon reaching there, Mr Logic said the mallam did a few incantations where he subsequently fell to the ground – a gesture that caused his workers to immediately chase Mr Logic out of the shrine.

MORE:

He started doing his thing and collapsed… then they asked me to move out… they rushed me out on the motorbike and left me nowhere. I was lucky to have had a police station few miles away from me. I went there and the policeman said I was lucky they didn’t kill me. They took about GH¢ 7,000 from me.

Additionally, Mr Logic said he wasn’t moved by greed but he trusted the mallam because he had been advertising with the radio station, hence familiarity was at play.

He again told Andy Dosty that, after he had arrived in Accra, the mallam called him again and asked him to do another ritual to pave way for cleansing.

When I left, the guy told me to go and swim in the sea at 12 midnight. He told me when I do that something will appear in the water. I said I couldn’t swim at midnight, I was bathing at home.

The psychological effect is the things they tell you can affect you. You will think you are going mad, he added.

According to Mr Logic, government must stop media houses who are collecting monies from these spiritualists to allow them advertise their works.

He explained that most of them are scammers and liars and can never do what they preach.

Those doing the rituals must be arrested. They don’t need to be defended. If you have license as a herbalist stick to that but don’t go about saying you can double money or charm it, he said.

Don’t fuse Reggae & Dancehall categories – Mr Logic tells VGMA board https://www.adomonline.com/dont-fuse-reggae-dancehall-categories-mr-logic-tells-vgma-board/ Thu, 08 Apr 2021 17:50:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1945630 Artiste manager cum musician, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has urged the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) board to separate the Reggae and Dancehall categories.

According to him, musicians who do reggae in Ghana are often overshadowed by the dancehall musicians due to the popularity of their songs, hence making it difficult for them to win awards.

He explained on the Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM that, the two genres are different, hence the need to separate them for fairness to prevail.

MORE:

The genre has been struggling. There are people who do reggae and not dancehall. Once you combine the two then you become confused. But you could have added ‘Reggae song and Dancehall song of the Year’.

Nii Lamptey didn’t get a nomination because the dancehall overshadows all the reggae musicians. It’s causing a lot of problem. We have Afrobeats and Afropop already.

VGMA is a senior scheme they should set the pace. We don’t want it combined together. We have Adina, Samini and Kahpun… if you give it to Adina then they will complain. Once you have the two… they take it and everyone is quiet. They should look into that part it’s very important, he explained.

Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic said there was no need to attack Mr Dumelo’s personality during a recent rally that took place at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency ahead of the December 7 election.

During the rally, the Minister, addressing the electorate, said a vote for Mr Dumelo will be a waste of time because the residents will see no development in their area.

According to her, Parliament is for serious-minded people and not popular movie actors who want power.

MORE:

She added that, they will make a mistake if they vote for Mr Dumelo because they will only be watching movies at the theatres.

But Mr Logic has expressed his disappointment in Madam Ayokor-Botchwaey’s statement.

He told Andy Dosty that, “she must apologise to him and the creative industry as a whole since the statement has the tendency to cost them the elections.

“I always say don’t attack people, attack the situation. She must be made to apologise executively. Creative arts is the main conversation in this year’s election.”

What she said affects all of us… People think we are vagabonds who don’t know what we are about. We have cheque books so we are not kids. As an NPP activist, I will not support this agenda. John is our brother… if she doesn’t see the urgency in apologising in times like this, it is sad.

Do you  know how many NPP people will be discouraged to vote against it?… We should not let NDC leverage on this?

On the creative side, it will affect votes… I won’t support what she said though I am NPP… if this is what she thinks, then she has no regard for us… The president is an honourable man, this sort of stereotype ideologies don’t exist anymore.

If this is what she thinks about us then I don’t think we are going somewhere. I respect her but this one is a no no. if she doesn’t apologise, it will affect us…. They will think NPP has no vision or mind…

Mr Logic clashes with Bullet, Nana Romeo over Wendy Shay at Hitz FM [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/mr-logic-clashes-with-bullet-nana-romeo-over-wendy-shay-at-hitz-fm-video/ Fri, 16 Oct 2020 09:11:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1866844 Artiste manager and songwriter, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, got engaged in a heated argument with Ricky Nana Agyemang widely known as Bullet on Hitz FM, Wednesday.

The argument stemmed from a discussion over publicity stunts in the music space where Mr Logic accused Bullet of paying presenter Nana Romeo to insult his female act, Wendy Shay for hype.

According to Mr Logic, he was informed by Nana Romeo that Bullet allegedly paid him to diss Wendy Shay when she got late for an interview with him earlier this year.

You paid for it. And your artiste was embarrassed. The source is the person who hosted the show. If he wants a stunt I will prove to him, Mr Logic alleged.

But the Rufftown Chief Executive Officer called Mr Logic a liar, adding that he had never paid anyone for hype ever since he started managing artistes in Ghana.

Mr Logic is a liar. Why will I pull such a stunt, for what? Emergency is a good song so why will I go on to allow someone destroy my artiste. The music is good enough to do to the talking, Bullet told host Jay Folley.

MORE:

Additionally, Bullet said he is still trying to figure out why Mr Logic has been slamming him or any singer that gets signed to his music label.

The interview escalated when the host invited Nana Romeo to blow out his side of the story on the same Daybreak Hitz show.

According to Nana Romeo, who denied ever telling Mr Logic that Bullet connived with him for Wendy Shay to trend, he knows nothing about what Mr Logic was propagating.

When the whole thing happened, Logic is my friend so we spoke and he told me Romeo ‘I am going to give it to Bullet.’ And I told him ‘don’t involve me’… Even If it were a stunt there is no way I would come out to say it but it wasn’t. What does Mr Logic look forward to achieve with this? Nana Romeo queried.

However, Mr Logic continued to maintain his stand and urged the two industry players to agree to swear an oath of truth to curse whoever is lying about the matter but it fell on deaf ears.

#VGMA21: Eno Barony deserved Best Rapper of the Year not Kwesi Arthur – Mr Logic [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/vgma21-eno-barony-deserved-best-rapper-of-the-year-not-kwesi-arthur-mr-logic-video/ Mon, 31 Aug 2020 20:15:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1847618 Entertainment critic, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, says rapper Kwesi Arthur didn’t deserve to be crowned Best Rapper of the Year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2020.

According to him, though the Tema based rapper is talented, his works under the VGMA’s 2020 calendar doesn’t tally with the award.

Kwesi Arthur emerged winner in a tough category which included E.L, Strongman, Medikal, Sarkodie, Teephlow and Eno Barony.

I am disappointed in the selection. I am not saying Kwesi Arthur doesn’t deserve to win. Eno has overworked… why are we discouraging? he quizzed on Daybreak Hitz show on Monday.

Lets go into the song and look at the brand as the rapper. Its about time they review the category definition. A rapper should be someone who goes toe to toe. Take your time and listen to Eno. I feel that award schemes should stop this, Mr Logic fumed.

MORE:

I am not speaking as a PR but it hurts. The whole street of Accra was expecting a win for Eno and I don’t know why they will deny her good songs. Kwesi Arthur for sometime now, let me now sound fair, he hasn’t been a rap advocate. He is a good rapper but he hasn’t been rapping for sometime now.

I know about Grind Day, he hasn’t been active in the rap area for sometime now. I was thinking VGMA will give Eno what she is due. I have learnt to control my hope about VGMA expectations, he added.
