The chiefs and people of Gomoa Fetteh have made another history with their annual Ahobaakese festival which saw thousands from all walks of life in attendance.

The festival has over the years had an impressive climax with its famous Atopa dance known in local parlance as Akosualontoba.

It is part of the rituals to mark the festival to remember how their ancestor, Ahor, liberated them from slavery and the 2022 edition was no different.

The dance, which requires men to swing their waist behind women, has made Gomoa Fetteh, a fishing and farming community in the Gomoa East district of the Central Region, very popular.

The town on Sunday was choked with revellers happily participating in the Atopa dance.

Gomoa Fetteh Chief breaks silence on assassination attempt [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/gomoa-fetteh-chief-breaks-silence-on-assassination-attempt-listen/ Mon, 20 Dec 2021 13:37:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2060437 The Chief of Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region, Nana Abor Atta II, is thanking God for saving his life.

Speaking on suspected assassination attempt on his life Sunday dawn, the chief said he is living in fear.

“I heard gunshots outside the palace and I run for cover because I knew they were here to kill me,” Nana Abor Atta II, said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday.

According to him, the attempt on his life was due to a protracted chieftaincy dispute in the area.

The Gomoa Fetteh chief alleged that, some aggrieved members of his family claiming ownership of the throne contracted unknown people to assassinate him.

“I know those trying to kill me. They are my family members who also want the throne,” he bemoaned.

The Gomoa Fetteh chief could not fathom why his own kinsmen will seek to kill him just for the throne.

“What is going on? This is not the first time but I know with God they won’t succeed,” he stated.

He cited how his predecessor was murdered in cold blood by these claimants of the throne and also an attempt to assassinate the Fetteh Kakraba queen mother, Nana Adjoa Adobi to buttress his point.

The chief appealed to the police to embark on a house-to- house hunt for the suspects who he claims may be regrouping to launch another attack.

Nana Abor Atta also called on the police to beef up security at Gomoa Fetteh and surrounding areas.

Fetteh Kakraba queen mother escapes assassination attempt https://www.adomonline.com/fetteh-kakraba-queen-mother-escapes-assassination-attempt/ Mon, 08 Nov 2021 11:23:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2040174 The Queen mother of Fetteh Kakraba, Nana Adjoa Adobi, has escaped death after unknown thugs stormed her house amid the firing of gunshots.

The group reportedly vandalised her car in the process.

Information gathered by Adom News’ Kofi Adjei indicated that the group went to the Queenmother’s house Saturday evening in a bid to assassinate her but she was not around.

Some residents, who stay close to her house, run for their lives due to the indiscriminate shooting.

They have since called on the Ghana Police to beef up security in the area to avoid a reoccurrence.

Meanwhile, Nana Adobi, has accused the Omankrado, Nana Ekow Kudu- Manu of an assassination attempt on her life.

Her allegation, she said, is borne out of a similar attempt to kill the chief two years ago.

Nana Adjoa further alleged that the Omankrado has pledged to kill her due to land litigation between them.

She added the Omankrado came to her house a day before the incident and arrested her personal secretary, claiming that they were land guards.

The Omankrado, popularly known as Yaw Kojo-Oku, has, however, denied the allegations levelled against him.

He revealed that the people arrested were on the police wanted list after they shot his four brothers last month.
