The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed reports suggesting that actress Joselyn Dumas has been appointed in John Mahama’s government.

This follows media reports on March 2, 2025, claiming that the filmmaker had been named Deputy Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President.

Speaking to Myjoyonline.com, Kwakye Ofosu stated that while he could confirm the appointments of other creative arts personalities, Joselyn Dumas was not among them.

“Miss Dumas has not been appointed to any such position. I can confirm that of the rest,” he said.

In recent weeks, Kofi Okyere Darko was named Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Rex Omar was appointed Coordinator of Black Star Experience, Abeiku Santana became Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Kafui Danku was named Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, and James Gardiner was appointed Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority.

While Kwakye Ofosu confirmed these appointments, they were not officially announced by the Presidency or the Minister of Government Communications. Instead, the information was shared through media sources and associates of the appointees—similar to the reports about Joselyn Dumas.

Following the viral announcement of Dumas’ alleged appointment, some social media users expressed discontent, questioning her affiliation with the party.

“This should be fake news, or it will annoy the grassroots paa. Hmmmmmmmm,” Quanta Masahudu posted on Facebook.

Salifu Mohammed Rabiu also commented: “This appointment nkoaa dier, daabi daabi. People worked so hard to win you power, and these are the people you reward? Disappointing!”

Another user, Raphael Ankonam, questioned why broadcaster Bridget Otoo had not been appointed, cautioning the president against making random appointments.
