The action of the family, according to them, is based on the decision by the police to conduct an autopsy without their consent.

The family deposited the body at the I &I mortuary, but the police, on their own volition, conducted an autopsy on it.

The family said they have disowned the corpse due to the action of the police and have warned the mortuary workers not to call them because the police are now responsible for it.

The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Samuel Adjei Boateng, who was a washing bay attendant at Abirem Maamaso.

Samuel reportedly lost his life after two policemen assaulted him.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the family, Kwadwo Boateng, is demanding the arrest and prosecution of the two policemen whose actions allegedly led their son’s death.

The family has also called for an independent probe into the incident.

The family has further appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President John Mahama, IGP Dr Dampare, the Attorney General, and NGOs to come to their aid and help their cause for justice to avert any reprisal attacks.

Assin Fosu: Corpse buried by wrong family exhumed after a month https://www.adomonline.com/assin-fosu-corpse-buried-by-wrong-family-exhumed-after-a-month/ Mon, 17 Oct 2022 11:05:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2172443 The remains of Linda Obri Akufu, 57, which got missing weeks ago at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu has finally been found and buried.

Per information gathered, the confusion was as a result of mistaken identity. The body of deceased was mistaken for a young lady from Assin Adiembra with similar name Linda.

Mrs Akufu’s body was mistakenly handed over to a different family and buried for over a month, while the family’s original corpse remained in the mortuary.

However, the confusion became glaring when Mrs Akufu’s family rejected the corpse the hospital presented to them, and made the situation a legal case.

The Assin Fosu Municipal, Assin South environmental officers, the police, the two family members and authorities from St. Francis Xavier Hospital, started an exhumation process after a court order was acquired.

After exhuming the decomposing body, they confirmed it was the body of Mrs Akufu, and it was duly handed back to them for proper burial after rituals were performed.

The Assin Fosu Municipal environment officer, Emmanuel Agyare, who supervised the operation, said the body, entire cemetery, families and officials were disinfected.

Few weeks ago, food items worth thousands of Ghana cedis meant for the funeral of the late Mrs Akufu went waste after her corpse got missing at St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu on the funeral day.

Family suspends funeral after discovering corpse’s manhood is missing https://www.adomonline.com/family-suspends-funeral-after-discovering-corpses-manhood-is-missing/ Wed, 23 Feb 2022 21:01:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2083870 South African couple, Portia and Bellium Tjale have put their late son’s funeral event on hold after they discovered that his manhood is missing.

Reports say the family claimed that their son’s body was mutilated and violated at the funeral parlour.

To this end, they refused to bury their disfigured son and have also taken possession of some properties at the funeral parlour in a bid to have the money they paid refunded.

Tent, chairs and other items bought for the funeral have been left to rot at the grounds, and will only be put to use when the family has answers for their 18-year-old’s mutilation.

Speaking to Daily Sun, 39-year-old Portia said, “My son’s body was collected from home with every body part intact, but some parts are now missing. Why is that?

“The same funeral parlour owner and his wife then even contacted me again to convince me not to come because I suspect they saw something was not right. My son deserves to be buried with dignity and not to be subjected to such disrespect”

Portia’s husband, Bellium, (48) added: “My son suffered and the next thing he was disrespected. Mpho was epileptic and had autism.”

However, the two parents further alleged that the police told them to bury their sons’ body despite the missing manhood after they reported the case.

Family chases hospital over ‘missing’ corpse https://www.adomonline.com/family-chases-hospital-over-missing-corpse/ Thu, 03 Feb 2022 21:18:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2075418 A family is outraged over the fact that their relative who was at the mortuary of Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw is missing from the facility.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Afua Ataa who was allegedly beaten to death by her brother’s son.

The nephew, whose name has been given as Kofi Kreman, allegedly lynched his aunt on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Kwawu Atuobikrom in the Eastern Region.

He was remanded with an autopsy ordered to ascertain the cause of death when he subsequently appeared in court.

Following the court order, it emerged the body was nowhere to be found in the mortuary.

But speaking in an interview with Adom News’ Akwasi Dwamena, Municipal Health Director Celestina Asante, disclosed the body was part of a mass burial exercise held.

According to her, the police brought in the body after the incident and the relatives didn’t show up at the facility, hence their decision.

The Municipal Environmental Health Director, Joseph Krampah, also confirmed the mass burial, adding the hospital authorities brought it.

He indicated 30 bodies including nine adults and 21 babies were involved and they were buried at the Nkawkaw Trado public cemetery.

ALSO READ:

Meanwhile, the Head of the mortuary noted the facility was faulty and public announcements were made for relatives to come for members who were there but Afua Ataa’s family did not show up.

However, the family is still not convinced by the explanations and are demanding for the corpse.

Further checks have revealed the suspected killer is still in police custody waiting for the autopsy report.

Pastor forced to marry corpse of lover who died during abortion https://www.adomonline.com/pastor-forced-to-marry-corpse-of-lover-who-died-during-abortion/ Thu, 02 Sep 2021 14:42:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2009508 A pastor has reportedly confessed to killing his pregnant fiancée, Chioma, while trying to abort the pregnancy without her consent.

They started dating about five years ago but got engaged in 2020.

However, while their wedding preparations were underway, she got pregnant and the suspect asked her to abort it, but she refused.

Having failed to convince her to do otherwise, the suspect, who has a church in Akwakuma area of Owerri, allegedly invited her over to his house.

According to reports, on getting there he served her a drink laced with a substance and she became unconscious during the process.

He is said to have rushed her to the hospital, but doctors declined to perform the abortion any further.

The pastor was said to have insisted, and in the process of doing the abortion, the deceased, then unconscious, began to vomit blood.

Reports indicate that the pastor rushed her to another hospital where she sadly died.

He reportedly confessed to the crime after an autopsy revealed that her drink was laced and there was attempted abortion.

Chioma’s family facilitated his arrest, but he was later released on the grounds that he will marry her corpse.

The pastor performed all necessary rites after which the deceased was buried.

“Her family didn’t want trouble, she’s actually from a very strong Christian home, her brothers are pastors and her mum are devoted Christians. Churches still call this man to come and preach and give ministration, he is still a theology teacher at bethel seminary, this man is walking free like nothing happened but we won’t keep quiet,” a family source said.

The incident happened during the wake and file past of the coffin, as preparations were being made for the burial.

In a video shared online, mourners could be seen gathered around the corpse as a woman cried and touched the dead one.

At one point, the mourners appeared to have noticed the body moving and while some took to their heels, the brave ones started performing chest compressions on him.

An ambulance could later be seen transporting the body to the medical centre.

Though the video did not capture the whole scene, reports suggest that the doctors confirmed he was alive and could not offer an explanation for why he was wrongly registered as deceased.

It is believed the man had passed on hours earlier, and per Islamic rite, was being prepared for burial.

Family clashes with morticians over corpse’s missing tongue https://www.adomonline.com/family-clashes-with-morticians-over-corpses-missing-tongue/ Wed, 02 Jun 2021 12:44:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1967816 The Sosu Family at Anlo Beach in the Shama District is outraged over the fact that the corpse of their relative, Samuel Nani Sosu, had no tongue when they went for the body for burial.

The family head, Francis Sosu, told Adom News that he contracted a photographer to take photos of the corpse before withdrawing him for pre-burial, five months after he was preserved.

The head of Sosu Family at Anlo Beach in the Shama District, Togbe Bolu

However, when the photos returned, he said they were stunned the tongue of the corpse had been replaced with cotton, though no autopsy was performed on the body.

The family head alleged that no proper explanation was given to them by the morgue, rather, they were welcomed with curses.

Speaking on the issue, some morticians defended that when the corpse was deposited at their outfit on the 7th of April, it had a bad stench emanating from its mouth.

Consequently, they believe that the tongue of the deceased might have either gotten rotten inside his mouth or rolled back into his throat.

The morticians have challenged the family to undertake a private postmortem, pledging to foot the bill if the pathologists find them guilty.

But, the wife of the deceased, Veronica Foroe, has punched holes into their claims, insisting her husband’s tongue was perfect prior to his death and at the moment he was deposited at the morgue.

Wife of the deceased, Veronica Foroe

She explained she was the one taking full care of her bedridden husband and ensured his hygiene, typically oral, was taken care of.

The family has vowed to go extra length, be it spiritual or legal, to ascertain the real issue, as they believe the incident is ritual-related.

Medikal says he sees nothing wrong with his description of Eno because it’s social media where people say worse things to his wife, Fella Makafui.

The AMG rapper explaining his reason for calling Eno “a corpse” said there is no reason [smoke] without fire and I said what I said because I was in my feelings.

The duo have been throwing indirect shots at each other after Sista Afia dropped her WMT song, which jabbed Eno Barony.

Sista Afia’s salvo perhaps pushed Eno Barony to allege that a Sowutuom rapper was the ghost writer who wrote the lyrics for the Jeje singer.

In a recent interview, Medikal said he knew Eno was talking about him because he is the only top rapper in Sowutuom.

I won’t just say something; there is no smoke without fire; I said what I said because I was in my feelings. I do not have any apology.

I don’t regret saying she is a corpse. People who love me love me. I cannot force people to love me. People call Fella worse things than that. I don’t even wanna talk about it.

You and that your wack Sowutuom rapper… if someone says that what do they mean? he asked rhetorically.

But Andy Dosty pointed out to the Omo Ada hitmaker that he is not the only rapper in Sowutuom hence Eno Barony could have been referring to anyone.

Medikal jabbed Eno Barony after she dropped a song dubbed ‘Argument Done’, which attacked the alleged ghostwriter of singer-turned-rapper Sista Afia.

According to deductions made by some social media users, Eno Barony was referring to Medikal as the said ghostwriter.

But though Sista Afia debunked such rumours, Medikal has come out to lash the ‘Heavy Load’ musician.

Don’t ever think I will waste time recording a diss track to a female rapper, especially when the person looks like corpse. Issa dead tin. [SIC]

In no time, Eno Barony has also replied the rapper with the following words:

The DCE, Adzoteye Laweh Akrofi, who spoke to the media on Monday, 17 September 2018, said he received reports that one of the factions had secured a court injunction on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, to restrain the late chief’s family from burying him in his house at Tehey.

However, the court order was only served on the late chief’s family on late Saturday at the funeral grounds at Tamatoku in the Ada East District.

Mr Akrofi said the organisers of the funeral, after studying the injunction, agreed to bury the late chief at a different place.

However, a commotion ensued which resulted in the torching of the ambulance carrying the chief’s corpse.

Mr Akrofi said he has been devastated by the incident. According to him, an emergency District Security Committee (DISEC) meeting will be convened today, Monday, 17 September, to get to the bottom of the matter and also forestall reprisal attacks.

He called on both factions to remain calm as the security agencies deal with the case.

Photo: Missing corpse exhumed, re-buried https://www.adomonline.com/photo-missing-corpse-exhumed-re-buried-2/ Fri, 14 Sep 2018 09:00:28 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=1332591 It is always sad when one loses a loved one but when the corpse cannot be found after all the necessary preparations have been done, then it becomes a double agony for family members.

That was exactly what happened to a family in Sunyani when the corpse of the late 56-year-old Solomon Kwabena Korang, (aka Degor) vanished from the Best Care Mortuary when they went for it for burial and funeral rites.

The entire family was thus thrown into shock with some of them going on air to express disappointment about the turn of events after they had spent a huge amount of money to prepare for the funeral and burial rites for Korang.

But after the body had been mistakenly collected by a different family from Chiraa near Sunyani and buried for 18 days, the mistake was detected, leading to the exhumation of Korang’s body on August 21, 2018.

The Director of morgue of the facility, Mr Boakye Danquah, explained after the mistake had been detected, that the two bodies have a striking resemblance and that officials on duty that day should have done further checks before releasing the body to the family from Chiraa for burial.

Poster Dead Man.pngAccording to him, due to the way bodies kept at the facility were treated, Korang’s body was intact three weeks after it had been buried when it was exhumed.

The body was sent back to the mortuary, while the family re-scheduled the date for its re-burial and funeral rites in Sunyani.

The Best Care Mortuary facility has accepted the blame and has since apologised to the two families for the blunder.

Re-burial and funeral rites

Last Friday, Korang’s body was re-laid in state at Area 2, Sunyani near Hon Yaw Brenya’s Street, for his second final funeral rites within a period of three weeks.

The body as it lay in state for the second time when The Mirror visited the family house, did not look like it had been exhumed, while family members wailed uncontrollably.

A spokesperson for the family, Mr Kusi Sakabo told The Mirror that “We are happy the body of our kinsman has finally been found”.

According to him, he went through an ordeal after the body got lost as some of the youth in the family accused him of conniving with officials of the mortuary to sell the body for GH¢20,000 for rituals.

He explained that in one instance, some of the youth attacked him by throwing stones during which a 36-year-old mason, Obeng Asiama-Kyeremeh, who was passing by was injured and rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

The late Korang, who was a farmer, left behind seven children.

A village in Zambia experienced a rare pandemonium when a corpse refused to be buried until it led villagers to the home of its killer.

In the video, which has gone viral on social media, several attempts by the pall-bearers to carry the corpse to its final resting place proved futile as the corpse kept bringing them back to the house of its killer.

The video was first shared by one Hagra Tembo a Zambian a politician and a journalist according to Pulse.ng.

Tembo wrote: “A body refused to be buried until it took villagers to a house where the person behind the death of the deceased resides.”

Though many have doubted the authenticity of the video and the incident, others who responded to the post said it was possible with many citing instances where such happened.

Corpse stolen from morgue https://www.adomonline.com/corpse-stolen-from-morgue/ Tue, 14 Aug 2018 13:51:54 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=1264851 Family members of late Solomon Korang from Sunyani Newtown in the Brong Ahafo Region are looking for the corpse of their father which was stolen from a private mortuary – Best Care Clinic and Mortuary Services – at Mantukwa in the Sunyani West District.

According to information gathered by DAILY GUIDE, the late Solomon Korang was sent to the Best Care Clinic and Mortuary Services at Mantukwa by one Nana Fosu for preservation on 16th July, 2018.

However, on 9th August, 2018, when family members went to the morgue to retrieve the corpse for burial and funeral service, it was nowhere to be found.

Therefore, the situation disrupted the funeral arrangements that had been made.

Later, investigations revealed that another family from Asuakwaa near Chiraa in the same district mistook their late father for Solomon’s corpse, and they buried him on 3rd August, 2018.

Two in court for ‘stealing’ 112-year-old man’s corpse https://www.adomonline.com/two-court-stealing-112-year-old-mans-corpse/ Thu, 11 Jan 2018 15:17:14 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=828151 Two men, who allegedly stole the corpse of an elderly man at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital’s mortuary have been granted bail in the sum of GHc 30,000 each, with two sureties each by the Tarkwa Circuit Court.
The accused persons are John Asante, 37, a mortuary attendant at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital, and Seth Owusu, 48, a fridge mechanic at Atonsu-Bokro, a suburb of Kumasi.
A third suspect, Efo Kwesi, is on the run.
The two pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, told the court, presided over by Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew that, the complainant, John Kofi Tenge, a farmer, resides at Wassa Tintinum, near Aboso.
She said on May 22, 2017, the complainant’s father, John Kwaku Tenge, aged 112, passed away and the family members deposited his body at the Tarkwa Municipal hospital’s mortuary for preservation.
According to records, Inspector Anaman said the body was given C-217 as its identification number, and the complainant paid a regular visit at the mortuary to check on his late father’s body.
On November 22, 2017, the complainant saw his late father’s body, and paid all the bills incurred for it to be prepared and buried on November 25.
On November 24 at 1:00pm, the complainant and other family members went to the mortuary to retrieve the corpse, but it was missing.
She said authorities of the hospital were informed immediately and a search was conducted at the mortuary but the body was not found.
Chief Inspector Anaman said the complainant and hospital authorities reported the case at the Tarkwa Police Station on the same day, and the police proceeded to the morgue with both parties, but the missing body was still not available.
The police then arrested John and five of his colleagues who were workers at the hospital’s morgue for questioning.
During interrogation, the Prosecutor said John admitted the offense and mentioned the names of Seth and Efo as his accomplices.
According to Chief Inspector Anaman, John claimed that on November 15, 2017, Seth promised to give him an ambulance if he provided him an elderly man’s body.
She said John further noted that on November 24 at 2:30 am, the accused person and the suspect sent a man with a blue black Pick-Up to collect the body for them.
Chief Inspector Anaman said Seth was arrested on November 28 at Asafo Market in Kumasi, and brought to Tarkwa Police Station to assist in investigations.
She said that the second accused has since denied the offense, and the suspect at large is yet to be arrested.

Confessions: My husband slept with my ‘corpse’ on our wedding night https://www.adomonline.com/confessions-husband-slept-corpse-wedding-night/ https://www.adomonline.com/confessions-husband-slept-corpse-wedding-night/#comments Thu, 31 Aug 2017 08:39:58 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=450861 It was the morning after my wedding night and there I was pacing up and down the balcony of our honeymoon suite. I could feel my pointed nose twitching. My heart pounding. I was losing my mind. Why did he do this? How could he? No! No! No! This can’t be happening to me, I said to myself in gentle little sobs. My eyes had been watery all morning and it was the morning after my wedding night. Wasn’t I supposed to still be in bed savouring the moment; enjoying the sweet cuddle of my day-old husband on the same bed, thrusting his lips and tongue into mine and mine into his and doing all the things that newly weds do on honeymoon? But here I was. There was no honey in the moon. Nothing left except rage.
Rage!
Too many things kept running through my mind at the same time. He was a nice man before our wedding, sweet and reasonable. He was a gentleman.  He was my world, but that world is crashing right before my eyes and I don’t really know what to do

I still had my ring on. The 20 carat white gold with a 14 carat diamond, cut in an oval shape sitting gracefully in the middle was still on my finger.
I was surprised it was still there. It was custom made by my father-in-law, who was a goldsmith. It made my friends green with envy.
Only days ago, I wanted it on with the speed of light,  but now it is a symbol of rage. I want it off and he is all to blame for it. How could he? I thought I knew him too well but not anymore. Can I be safe around him? I asked myself over and over again.
As I kept pondering on what to say or do to possibly end the one-day marriage, I also thought of what to do with the many gifts we received. Almost all of them were yet to be opened and had been sent to the house we would have called home.
A couple of days back, I thought of how lovely it would be to be, sitting together and unwrapping them. We even had thank you notes specially designed and these would have been sent out to the many guests who helped to make our dream wedding a reality.
They will be disappointed though, to find out that the new seed of marriage they helped to plant might not bear the desired fruits after all.
How about the many pictures from the wedding our friends had posted on Facebook and Instagram? How will the many friends and family members who were tagged in these posts feel when they learn that  it’s all over? It was a charade after all they may think. My initial thought was to delete the pictures immediately, but “what will be my response when they ask why”, I asked myself. Since there was no concrete answer yet, I trashed the thought.
There were also text messages from my very close friends seeking to know how my first night went.
Adjoa in a WhatsApp message asked “was it painful or bittersweet,” with an excited emoticon at the end.
One from Yaa sought to know if it was as magical as hers was the first time. “Did you lose yourself in the moment. If you didn’t, then, it wasn’t magical after all. But no worries love, it’ll happen,” she assured.
It was Pam’s text that got me even more angry. While I do not blame her for anything that happened the night before I couldn’t also shrug off this thought about Pam taking a tiny part of the blame for turning my wedding night and marriage into a dirge. “Did my special concoction work? And oh, is he…you know what I mean…endowed and powerful as all African men should be?” Pam asked in the text message. “Yes it worked perfectly.. stupid! And oo he is a superman. That’s what you wanted to know right?” I said to myself with a rage never seen before. I threw the phone at the wall and watched it break into pieces and threw myself on a bed in the guest room, buried my face under the pillow and drenched it with tears.
I kept crying. In my moment of darkness and loneliness everything kept flashing back over and over again.
It took two years to plan this wedding. My husband – then fiancé – and I, wanted a simple but exquisite wedding. We didn’t want it all over the place so we took our time, planned every step. From the food, chairs, colour, cake even the car I would ride into the venue of the wedding was carefully chosen. We hired a good planner and step by step we, together with my mother and soon-to-be mother in law, made sure no stone was left unturned.
And it turned out to be one of the most memorable times of my life. So much so that if even this marriage ended, the memories of my wedding – from the engagement through to the white wedding- will not be easily forgotten.
My mother-in-law to be, whose only child I was marrying could not have enough of it all. At a point I felt bad for the planner. The poor woman had not met any woman as troublesome, demanding and a sucker for perfection as Auntie Julie, as she loves to be called.
When she couldn’t take it anymore, the planner called my fiancé and demanded that his mother be ‘caged’ otherwise, he’d have to make a choice between the two of them. Of course that was impossible, but my mother-in-law had the reprimand of her life. One that was enough to keep her somewhat measured throughout the entire process.
Those were very interesting times. But truth be told it was her constant interjections and quest for perfection laced with my mother’s chorus about “it is my daughter’s wedding oo, you better not mess it up for her” that made the wedding a successful one.
I am certain that the about 300 guests who attended the wedding will talk about it for a very long time. No wonder the pictures and videos circulating on social media continue to receive likes hours after the wedding.
I smiled as I reminisced on these developments and instantly, I missed my mother-in-law. An amazing woman she is, but I don’t want to think about how she’ll feel when the news about an iminent divorce reaches her.
But well, let me not lose track.
It all happened on the night of our wedding. After all the fun, eating and dancing, the pictures, selfies and the excitement, something that still beats my understanding happened.
I woke up the next morning with body ache – that’s understandable considering the amount of dancing and fun I had – but it’s the swelling of my private part and the throbbing pain I was feeling at that area that caused me to panic.
I don’t exactly recall how I ended up in bed, but I do remember being carried off the dancing floor by my husband. I wasn’t intoxicated – well, I don’t remember taking in any alcohol – but I recall I took a drink from Pam.
Yes, Pam. Her so-called concoction. A drink, she claims everyone testified to when they had it on their wedding night.
“This is something special for you,” Pam said when I joined her and our two other friends at their table during the wedding dinner.
“It is a special something something. Don’t ask me what it’s made of, just say thank you later,” she grinned as she poured the contents of the little bottle into my drink.
Yaa – the cautious one among us – expressed disapproval. “Pam, don’t give her that…”
“Oh please madam goody goody, don’t give us a sermon. Plus, this isn’t harmful Adjoa had it on her wedding night, she didn’t die did she,” Pam interrupted.
“Hahaha, guys…guys relax,” Adjoa burst into laughter as she attempted to defend Pam. “See, I had this on my wedding night and nothing happened to me. It’s still one of the most memorable moments of my life. I loved every moment of it.”
“So babes,” she got up and took a seat by me, “this will only make the whole process worthwhile and believe me, you will never forget this day,” she added.
With that, I placed an assuring hand on Yaa and said “I’ll be fine. You’re too careful, learn to live a little.” I gave her a hug and took a sip of the drink I had no idea from what it was made.
“It’s sweet,” I said, but what exactly is it? Sugar and water”, I asked.
Pam burst out into laughter. “Do you know what makes coca-cola what it is, but you drink it regardless, right? Just have fun love, today is your day and we’re all here  to make it unforgettable.”
So I gulped down the remains of my drink and we got to the dance floor.
That’s the only moment I could recall vividly.
But as it turned out, I felt unconscious and had to be carried to bed by my husband. According to my him, he was forced to carry me off the dance floor with my friends because I was acting quite unusual but I fell unconscious before he could get me to the bedroom.
Luckily, a medical doctor friend of ours who was at the wedding was called in and he allayed fears of it being anything dangerous. He said I’d probably just had too much alcohol and that I should be fine by morning.
He said when he questioned what I had taken, I replied, but he didn’t understand what I meant by “something sweet.” So he undressed me and put me to bed and while he narrated what happened afterwards, my jaw dropped.
My husband said, although I had passed out, he could not resist the temptation to have me. He said he had waited for the moment for too long to let it go.
“So, I had sex with you while you were unconscious.”
I gaped in awe at the thought that my husband still had the urge to sleep with me in the state that I was.
“Babe, you know this is the night we’ve been waiting for and I simply couldn’t wait,” he pleaded when he noticed the shock on my face.
After a long pause, not knowing how to respond to the news that has caused me to suddenly lose my voice, I cleared my throat and asked “you mean, you couldn’t wait for me to wake up.
“How could you? I was unconscious. Technically dead and you went ahead to have sex with me?  Even if you didn’t mind having sex to a corpse, it didn’t also occur to you that you were raping me? This is rape, you’ve raped me. I can’t believe you…”, then the tears started flowing…which I hated, I just could not believe what had happened.
Shockingly, he didn’t understand why I was, in his words, “overreacting.” For him, because we were married, he had the right to my body and found my reaction surprising.
“You cannot say that I have raped you, we are married, so there is absolutely nothing wrong with having you. I don’t need your consent.”
When I heard those words,I felt as though every neuron in my brain had gone for a break, shutting down my entire system and for a moment I thought the sky had gone dark.
While the things he said shocked me, it was his lack of understanding of the issue. The fact that no matter how married we are, he needs my consent before sex.
And that my privacy had been invaded and my body violated and mutilated.
I found it totally unacceptable that he didn’t see anything wrong with what he had done and actually thought I was overreacting. That is what got me to the balcony and later into the guest room.
And to make matters worse, My mother thought I was being too dramatic over what was really a non-issue.
When I called her to inform her about what had happened, she thought I was just being too full of myself.
“I have told you to stop this your feminism or whatever you people call it nowadays. The actual world is different from what you people want it to be.
“He’s your husband and should have access to you anytime he feels like it. You cannot stop him. So shut up, go cook something for your husband to eat and stop whining,” my mother said.
I froze on the phone. For some seconds I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. Eventually, I managed a “thank you” and ended the call and was shattered all the more.
For some reason, my mother decided to call my mother-in-law, who immediately called to check if I was okay. She brought a tinge of sanity into my miserable day-old marriage and was even willing to get me a psychologist.
“If it was me he did that to, I’d have walked away the very moment I found out. That is totally unacceptable. Take heart, I will speak to him,” she assured before ending the call.
I think her reprimand worked. Later that evening, my husband apologised for his actions and promised not to ever repeat it. He also pleaded with me not to call for an end to the marriage because if I did, his world will come crashing.
But wasn’t mine crashed already? I felt my husband had no regard for my feelings at the time he undertook the act, because if he did, there was no way he’d have done that. I have nothing left for him but rage and a nice mother-in-law who I could not afford to disappoint.
I’m torn between leaving him and accepting his apology or staying and not trusting him..What should I do?

The corpse is in a sitting position wielding a pestil in a morter, depicting someone pounding fufu. It appears the de deceased used to be a “Chop Bar” operator so she was positioned to depict that.
Fufu Corpse Pounding
This picture has received a lot of criticism for being outrageous and over the top.
The common chorus has been that Africans would rather spend lavishly on a funeral of a loved one than channel that money to the welfare of that person while they were alive.

AMA to exhume corpses buried without permits https://www.adomonline.com/ama-exhume-corpses-buried-without-permits/ Wed, 05 Jul 2017 10:37:13 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=270201 The Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) has warned that it will exhume corpses buried without permits at the various cemeteries in the Greater Accra metropolis.
In a statement released by the head of Public Affairs at the AMA, Nuumo Blafo III, on Tuesday July 4 it said some families connive with grave wardens to bury their corpses without paying for the grave space.
“The AMA is reminding the general public that it is illegal for people who have gone to bury their corpse to make payments to the cemetery wardens (sextons) for the allocation of burial space.
“All payments concerning the space in the AMA-managed cemeteries for burial are to be paid at the AMA Public Health Department at Adjabeng (adjacent Kingsway building) and not at the cemeteries.”
The AMA warned the public against making such payments to its grave wardens as that could lead to the exhumation of their corpses and prosecution.

Family fight Ridge Hospital over missing corpse https://www.adomonline.com/family-fight-ridge-hospital-authorities-missing-corpse/ Fri, 05 May 2017 18:44:13 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=104981 The mortuary block of the Ridge Hospital was a scene to behold when grief-stricken family vent their spleen on the mortuary attendants over their missing corpse.

According to Joy News’ Martha Acquah, the family came to the hospital Friday morning for the corpse of their late relative for burial but the attendants could not identify the body.

She noted that, tempers went up when the body of their 52-year-old was still not found after waiting for several hours.

A relative who spoke to our reporter said the family was waiting to receive the corpse for burial ahead of the ban on drumming and noise making for the Homowo festival.

The situation, Martha stated generated controversy causing the hospital authorities to call the police.

“the mortuary attendant together with the family were sent to the police station where it was discovered their corpse had been given to another family whose late relative was a 72-year” she noted.

The mortuary attendants were able to identify the family but the body had been buried so the conclusion was that, they would have to go for a Court order to exhume the body.

Martha Acquah added that the other family who leave at Atiko, a suburb in Accra considered the body they were given did not look like their relative but thought he might have changed due to the ailment.

The two family families have therefore agreed to exchange the bodies for an amicable solution.
