Antonio, 34, had surgery on a lower limb fracture following the crash on 7 December.

The Jamaica international needed to be released from his car after becoming trapped during the incident in Epping, Essex, and was taken to a central London hospital.

Antonio is West Ham’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, with 68 goals in 268 league appearances.

The Hammers forward spoke to his team-mates via a video call before they earned an important 2-1 win over Wolves on 9 December, having worn ‘Antonio 9’ shirts before kick-off.

The club thanked the emergency and medical services that supported Antonio and said it would donate “close to £60,000 to the NHS and Air Ambulances UK charities” after the shirts were sold at auction.

“Everyone at the club would like to reiterate their heartfelt thanks to the first responders, emergency services, air ambulance staff and the NHS for the incredible support given to Michail in the wake of the accident,” West Ham said on Tuesday.

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui said earlier this month that it was a “miracle” Antonio was OK.

He will be “monitored in hospital over the coming days”, the Hammers said in a statement and extended a “heartfelt thank you” to the emergency services and first responders who tended to him.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said it had attended the scene of the accident on Saturday after receiving calls at 13:02 GMT and had released a man trapped in his car by 13:45.

The extent of Antonio’s injuries were not revealed at that time.

Essex Police later said officers were investigating a serious crash involving a Ferrari and asked for witnesses to come forward, as well as those with dashcam footage of the incident.

Messages of support for Antonio have flooded in with the Premier League and leading clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all responding to a Hammers’ statement on X.

Former clubs Southampton, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Colchester also wished Antonio a speedy recovery on social media, as did BBC presenter Gary Lineker on Saturday’s edition of Match of the Day.

Jamaica manager Steve McClaren also sent a message on behalf of Antonio’s international team-mates: “On behalf of the entire group of players, support staff and technical staff, I would like to wish Michail a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with him at this time.”

Antonio has appeared in all 14 of West Ham’s matches in the Premier League this season, scoring his only goal in their 4-1 win over Ipswich on 5 October.

It is unclear how long his recovery will take as the Hammers prepare to host Wolves on Monday (20:00 GMT).

Baffour was returning from his usual night shift job when the unfortunate incident occurred, reports gathered by Ghanasoccernet revealed.

The ex-Ashanti Gold SC attacker is currently hospitalised and in a critical condition at a health facility in Maryland.

The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue services responded to the scene of a collision on Briggs Chaney Road and Great Oak Lane in Cloverly around 6:30 am on Wednesday morning.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS, three patients were transported to the hospital, one adult [Baffour] with Priority 1 trauma (life-threatening) and two with Priority 3 trauma.

At the moment, the cause of the accident is unknown but the road has reportedly been cleared to make way for the free flow of traffic.

He made an appearance for the national team following excellent spell with AshGold scoring 21 goals to win the top scorer award in 2012.

Mr Banasco who was driving a Nissan pickup with registration number GN 6809-20 was driving with one Mr Yakubu Mohammed after a Vagla Students and Associates congress in Bole when the accident occurred.

He was said to have crashed into a porthole and veered off the road before somersaulting multiple times into a nearby bush.

No death was recorded.

Mr Banasco escaped unscathed, but his associate, Mr Yakubu broke his arm in the crash.

He is currently receiving treatment at the Bole Government Hospital.
