Assured of Ebony’s presence, Mr Kwarteng expressed confidence that she would intervene to ensure he is financial sound.

“The day I go broke, she will come to my rescue. For now, I am not. Nana Hemaa (Ebony) can’t let me be in need like that… she will never accept that because I am okay with her, and she is a spirit and has the means,” he affirmed.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall on Saturday February 10, Starboy Kwarteng expressed his conviction that Ebony’s spirit remains active and watches over him after her tragic passing in a fatal car accident on February 8, 2018.

He shared that, he feels her presence strongly, especially in moments of spiritual connection, where she communicates with him in a trance.

“Ebony Reigns still talks to me; she lives on. I don’t dream about her, but when we talk spiritually, it’s more or less like a trance. She speaks in my ears. She whispered in my ear,” Starboy Kwarteng revealed, highlighting the ongoing bond he shares with his daughter beyond the physical realm.

6 habits that make you broke https://www.adomonline.com/6-habits-that-make-you-broke/ Fri, 15 Dec 2023 12:56:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2332825 Have you ever wondered why it feels like your money disappears faster than you earn it?

Well, sometimes, it’s not just about how much you make, but also about the habits you have. Let’s talk about a few habits that could be making you broke without you even realizing it.

1. Trying to impress others: One common mistake many people make is trying too hard to impress others. Remember, it’s not your job to impress everyone.

Trying to keep up with others’ expectations can lead you to spend more than you should, leaving your wallet empty.

2. Living above your means: Living above your means simply means spending more money than you actually have.

It might be tempting to buy the latest gadgets or designer clothes, but if you can’t afford them, it’s best to wait until you can. Overspending can quickly lead to financial trouble.

3. Neglecting investments: If you’re not making your money work for you, you’re missing out on potential growth.

Failing to invest your income means missing opportunities to build wealth over time. It’s essential to explore different investment options that align with your financial goals.

4. Dependence on a single income source: Relying solely on one source of income can be risky. What if something happens to that source? Diversifying your income streams by exploring part-time gigs or investments can provide a safety net and increase your financial stability.

5. Always chasing trends: It’s natural to want to stay in the loop with the latest trends, but constantly chasing them can be expensive.

Trends come and go, but your financial well-being should stay steady. Prioritize needs over wants and resist the urge to splurge on every new trend.

6. Being too generous: Being kind is wonderful, but being overly generous with your money can lead to financial strain.

It’s important to strike a balance between helping others and ensuring your financial stability. Create a budget that allows for both generosity and responsible spending.

Breaking the cycle of these habits can be a game-changer for your financial health. It’s about making mindful choices, living within your means, and being strategic with your money.

By adopting healthier financial habits, you can build a more secure and stable financial future for yourself. Remember, small changes today can lead to big rewards tomorrow.

How two broke Ghanaian ladies had a vacation of their lives in East Africa https://www.adomonline.com/two-broke-ghanaian-ladies-vacation-lives-east-africa/ Wed, 26 Jul 2017 08:45:34 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=331711 In October, last year I wrote about the 7 pivotal experiences every woman should have before turning 30.
Among other things, I indicated that it is important to travel even if it is outside your region.
This article really is for those who have never traveled, scared to travel or think you need thousands and thousands of cedis to make a trip happen.
On my 30th birthday I wanted to see Africa beyond Ghana. So, I spent my birthday in Ivory Coast. It was pretty daunting travelling on my own, but I did it anyway and it was great experiencing and getting to know other people, culture, new food etc.

playIn Ivory Coast on my birthday with Ebrie’ women making Attie’ke’

When I came back from Ivory Coast, (which was great fun) I had another invitation to Kenya. My first time in East Africa.
I wanted to go for this trip so bad because not only did it offer me a learning experience in my line of work, I get the chance to see Kenya which is the “capital” of East Africa.
But the thing is I did not have enough money because I had just come back from Ivory Coast. Good thing was Eugenia (my former colleague and friend) was in on the trip and that was an extra push for me to make it happen.

How two broke girls made this trip happen

Truth is we were both broke but determined.
So, the first move was to sort out our air tickets because the dollar was whipping the cedi’s ass then so it did not make sense to delay.
What was left afterwards, was money for food, accommodation, shopping and just the total experience a trip should offer. Dipping into our savings was out of the question.
We told our host, the phenomenal Jacky Habib, that we could only raise 800 dollars for the trip. I raised the money from “here and there” and so did Eugenia.

playEugenia and I sampling giraffes lol

This woman right here is a great organizer, trip planner and bargainer. She can sell you for 2 cedis or 10 trillion dollars
Remember we had just a month to make it happen but you reading this have the chance to save towards it.
Ten days was all we had to experience Kenya and Tanzania (which we added later on).
Our accommodation was sorted in Kenya as Jacky was kind enough to give her bed to us
In Kenya, we spent less money to see amazing places. The only expensive thing we did in Nairobi was the safari at the Nairobi National Park, which cost us 100 dollars each. We passed on the Safari at Masai Mara (even though we really wanted to do that) which would have cost about 200 dollars because we were tired from the Tanzania trip.

playNairobi National Park

For food, we decided to stick to the local Kenyan foods like Chapati, Ugali, etc as they were not as expensive as ordering Chinese, Thai, Indian or Ethiopian dishes. There are days we cooked too just to give our host a taste of our Ghanaian dishes.
After 3 days in Nairobi, the 3 of us decided to head to Tanzania. Still on the 800-dollar budget and this time we knew nobody in Tanzania and Airbnb came in handy.

playUgali and fish meal

We left by bus — on a 16-hour journey to Tanzania. In Dar, we paid 30 dollars a night for the Airbnb accommodation. The three of us split it 10 dollars each so it didn’t hurt our pockets.
We took the ferry to Zanzibar the next day at 35 dollars each. Our first night in Stone Town was just 15 dollars also again on Airbnb, as usual we split it 5 dollars each.

playZanzibar, Stone Town

After a night in Stone Town which was one of my best nights ever — lots of dancing, walking, eating, making new friends and getting henna — we left to the Paje, which is in the Eastern part of the island to spend the rest of the days at the beach.
Again we “airbnbd” in Paje for 25 dollars a night so the three of us ended up splitting 50 dollars.
So, really the rest of the money was spent on food, and the experiences such as snorkeling (which went south), sitting on donkeys etc.

playPaje beach

We came back to Nairobi after four days and left for Accra two days later.
I have just tried to summarize the trip as best as I can but it was all mad mad mad fun.

Don’t fret it

The whole point is, it shouldn’t be such a big deal if you want to travel. Just make up your mind, do a little bit of research on your destination, Use Airbnb which will reduce your accommodation cost — just go to Airbnb.com.

playJacky and I

Don’t worry about the very nice and swanky places to sleep — if you have the money to spend on that go ahead, but if you don’t have the money just look for a place which is clean and safe and you will be just fine.

Many celebrities live fake lifestyles – Stephen Appiah https://www.adomonline.com/many-celebrities-live-fake-lifestyles-stephen-appiah/ Fri, 23 Jun 2017 11:51:48 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=245291 Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has revealed that many Ghanaian entertainment personalities live fake lifestyles.

Stephen Appiah, who is also a fashionista, says many of the country’s celebrities only pretend to be living glitzy and glamourous lifestyles just for social media and fame.

Some weeks ago, actor Prince David Osei wrote an open letter to President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo about the ineffectiveness of the movie industry on Instagram.

Beneath the post, Stephen Appiah posted a sarcastic comment: “@PrinceDavidOsei hard truth. So call celebrities that their neighbors don’t even know…nice letter my SOLDIER”.

Many wondered what exactly the football star meant by that comment.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews’ MzGee, he said most celebrities only do things for comments and captions on social media.

“Some of the comments are very funny to me, people eat in the restaurant and take pictures of their food and post them on social media… if you are a celebrity, there’s no need to do certain things. Some celebrities live fake lifestyles, I always focus on the captions on my social media page to inspire people,” Stephen Appiah said.

According to him, “People live certain lifestyles that means they are not being themselves. If I see them posting pictures, acting as big personalities and turn back to ask me for a favour, I will never stretch out.”

The former captain, who was given a Life Time Achievement Award at the 2017 Allianz Awards for being an inspirational figure to his society, also communicated about his fashion style.

“I think it’s all about character. I was lucky… staying in Italy for about fifteen to seventeen years and I really looked at their culture especially in their dressing aspects,” he said.

“When we talk about fashion you need to love yourself, because at the end of the day, nobody goes out naked. I put on certain colours of clothes and my friends make mockery of me,” the footballer revealed.

He added that, “I’m so lucky to have a nice physique. I have to blow my horns because I work it out, that is one main thing that describes me a lot, everything I put on looks good on me.”

Tema NCCE is broke https://www.adomonline.com/tema-ncce-broke/ Fri, 21 Apr 2017 07:22:57 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=87571 The Tema Metropolitan Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is yet to receive its allocated funds for the first quarter of 2017.

A first quarter report on civic activities, administrative and financial matters from the office stated that “the first quarter ended without the release of funds for goods and services to the office”.

A copy of the report made available to the Ghana News Agency indicated that the office was therefore unable to meet its target to organize at least 74 civic education activities in the first quarter of the year.

The office, it stated, carried out 61 programmes representing 82 per cent of the planned 74 activities.

Some other targets the office was unable to meet due to the delay in release of funds included 10 planned programmes for post-elections community engagement on good governance, planned excursion activities to parliament and the judiciary for Civic Education Club members, and planned programmes for faith-based organizations to educate them on the duties of Members of Parliament, among others.

Mr Isaac Kwame Antwi, Tema Metropolitan NCCE Director, noted that his outfit as part of initiatives to get funding for its activities, was in talks with Cargill Ghana Limited for a renewal of its sponsorship of the ‘constitution game’ among senior high schools in the Metropolis.

Mr Antwi explained that the ‘constitution game’ was an initiative to educate the public especially the youth on Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

He said in the first quarter of the year, the office organized 13 Civic Education Club activities out of which eight were held at basic schools with an aim of facilitating the formation of the club in those schools.

The remaining five activities were executed among club members in three senior high schools in the Metropoli
