The programme, he explains, follows negotiations with the Battor Catholic Hospital where the students will be.

The package, he indicated, also includes support in securing accommodation and feeding.

In view of this, interested students are expected to apply to the Medical Superintendent from today, March 28, 2022,

“The hospital will strictly vet and screen all suitable applicants without any interference. Glad this win-win initiative would offer our celebrated hospital additional hands to improve health delivery in my constituency, and also help in the interim to provide practical skills for our compatriots who have been through hell and are now considering their future options,” the former Deputy Education Minister said in a Facebook post.

He expressed hope other health facilities would replicate this initiative between North Tongu/Battor Catholic Hospital.

The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee has been involved in the safety and well-being of the Ghanaian students in Ukraine following Russia‘s invasion weeks ago.

As a former student leader, he was earlier in touch with the students to find ways to be moved to safer zones.

He later visited them in Bucharest, Romania after they escaped from the conflict in Ukraine, pending their evacuation to Ghana.

Meanwhile, the government through the Foreign Affairs Ministry has evacuated over 200 students.

The gesture, according to Mr Ablakwa, is in recognition of the 53-year-old woman’s dedicated service in the constituency.

As one of the longest-serving health workers, Madam Obidieh started work at the facility in 2003.

The car was presented to her at an event to mark the 2021 World Contraception Day at Battor on Friday.

Presenting the car, the MP expressed optimism that Auntie Beatrice, as she is affectionately called, would be an inspiration to other young health workers in the District.

The MP’s father, Theophilius Brown Kisseh Okudzeto, was buried on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Battor Aveyime in the Volta Region.

This followed his demise on June 24, 2021, aged 74.

According to the MP, the donation made to the hospital was on the back of an announcement the family made during the funeral.

Mr Ablakwa was optimistic the donation will go a long way to help vulnerable patients in need of financial help.

He took to his Facebook page to share photos from the donation which saw some family members in attendance.

He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all and sundry who supported the family in their difficult moments.

Following his win in the Parliamentary elections, the MP, as part of his thanksgiving offering was at the Children’s Ward of the Battor Catholic Hospital in his constituency.

There, he, together with his team paid the medical bills of patients receiving care.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa, thereafter, had an interaction with the nurses who are caring for his ailing constituents.
