Otto Addo, 47, who signed a one-year contract in March with an option to extend for two more years, has faced intense criticism for the team’s disappointing performances during the AFCON qualifiers.

The Black Stars ended their campaign at the bottom of Group F with just three points, recording three defeats and three draws.

Speaking to Asempa FM’s Sports Nite, Aziz Haruna Futa, now the National Nasara Coordinator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), questioned Addo’s suitability for the role.

“In my opinion, I don’t think Otto Addo is a good coach,” he stated.

Futa also disclosed that Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, had previously cautioned the Ghana Football Association (GFA) against appointing Addo as head coach, expressing doubts about his ability to lead the team to success.

“Even the Minister for Sports advised the GFA not to appoint him because he can’t qualify us for the next World Cup,” Futa revealed.

With their AFCON hopes dashed, the Black Stars are now turning their focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. They are scheduled to face Chad and Madagascar when the qualifiers resume in March 2025, aiming to deliver a stronger performance under the spotlight.

May 9 Disaster: We need proper security to halt hooliganism – Aziz Harua Futah https://www.adomonline.com/may-9-disaster-we-need-proper-security-to-halt-hooliganism-aziz-harua-futah/ Sun, 09 May 2021 14:01:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1956836 Former National Chapters Committee [NCC] for Hearts of Oak, Aziz Haruna Futah, has called for proper structures at the various stadia to help fight hooliganism.

Hooliganism in Ghana football has been a canker. In the ongoing 2020/21 football season, hooliganism has taken away the beauty of the game.

Match officials were beaten mercilessly by livid home fans of Wamanafo Mighty Royals in the National Division One League.

Some match officials have been banned and suspended indefinitely due to poor officiating.

And according to Haruna Futah the Ghana Football Association [GFA] and the government must come together to bring out a policy that will help curb hooliganism at the various stadia.

“The attitude of supporters has not changed since the May 9 disaster at the Accra Sports Stadium,” he told ‘Agro ne Fom‘ on Adom TV.

“Every year we remember the victims of May 9 but nothing has changed and if we don’t take care, such a disaster will happen in the future.

“Supporters must be educated on how to behave when they go to the stadium and I calling on the Ghana Football Association to collaborate with government to enroll a programme that will help fight this canker because we need peace at the various stadia.

“We will gather at the Sports Ministry and visit the victims but that is not enough to fight the hooliganism,” he added.

I will chase NDC from the Zongos – Aziz Haruna Futa https://www.adomonline.com/i-will-chase-ndc-from-the-zongos-aziz-haruna-futa/ Wed, 04 Jul 2018 17:54:08 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=1190381 An aspirant for the National Nasara Coordinator position of the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] is promising to win the Asawase Constituency seat for the ruling party.

Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa says he has the ability to ensure more than 2000 youth cross-carpet from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase constituency to the NPP.

The Asawase constituency is the only seat being held by the NDC in the Ashanti region. The Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, has vowed to ensure the NPP does not win the seat in the 2020 elections.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Aziz Haruna Futa, said the NDC will fall in the Ashanti region.

According to him, the Asawase seat will be a cool chop for NPP in 2020 if given the nod as Nasara Coordinator.

“I will chase NDC from the Zongos and make Nasara an election-winning machine”, he bragged.

He said if, given the nod, he will tap the experience and expertise of all well-meaning Zongo indigenes to help shape a positive image for the Zongos.

The 39-year-old aspirant said he opted for the National Nasara Coordinator position because of his background as a Muslim and a Zongo indigene.

He said regardless of one’s political affiliation, his leadership will operate an all-inclusive and open office policy where all Zongo people will be brought on board to suggest and recommend policies that will better the lives of the people.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak management member turned politician noted that he has kick-started his campaign which is being well received by the delegates and the feedbacks are encouraging and favour him as the best candidate for the national Nasara slot.
