Veteran broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah aka KKD has opened up on horrifying experiences on the Accra-Tema Motorway that almost claimed his life.

According to him, an armed robber once shot at his car in an attempt to stop him midway through his journey.

However, he managed to exhibit an act of bravery and hit the robber to disarm him.

He subsequently drove to the Tema Police Station to report the incident.

In a video on social media in which he detailed his experiences, he claimed the police wanted to impound his car instead of tracing and arresting the suspect.

Fast forward, another incident he said occurred in March 2022, when he had a flat tyre and parked to change it.

Just when he was on it, a motor rider passing by in an attempt to distract him informed him someone was behind him and before he knew it, stones were being pelted at him.

“So stones were thrown, one hit my left thumb, one nearly hit my head I ducked. I got my key out, forgot to lock the car and moved away for safety.

“By the time the things calmed down, I moved back to my car, my iPhone was gone, money in my wallet is gone, shoes I was bringing my sister, documents and my walking cane is gone, ” he recounted.

KKD further queried the government’s commitment to fixing the potholes on the motorway and also expressed worry over the absence of police patrol teams on the stretch.

The Ankobeahene of Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Oshimpo Acheampong, was also attacked with his penis and testicles squeezed.

This unfortunate incident happened at Awutu Bereku in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region on Wednesday.

Information gathered by Adom News‘ Kofi Adjei indicated the chiefs and their elders were waiting for the Awutu Senya West District Chief Executive to hold a meeting on how to deal with refuse disposal in the area.

The group, allegedly hired by some family members, invaded the venue and attacked the chiefs while announcing their destoolment.

Nai Oshimpo, narrating his ordeal, said some of the family members accused him of releasing portions of their land to a company as a landfill site.

Nai Kofi Okyere, who sustained cutlass wounds, said their beatings were like wrestling.

The apology comes on the back of a call by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for swift action against the attackers.

The journalists were at the court where the man of God was arraigned over threats to kill Patricia Oduro Koranteng, also known as, Nana Agradaa.

Despite showing their ID cards, bearing their names, and the media houses they worked with, they were denied entry.

But the church, in a statement, condemned the act, saying the attack was not sanctioned and it does not support any form of violence.

“The church would like to render an unqualified apology to all affected journalists, media houses, and the GJA.

“We plead with the affected media organisations and journalists to kindly accept our apology,” part of the statement read.

The church has also pledged its support to the media in the discharge of its duties.

“We acknowledge the key role the media plays in our society and as such we pledge our full cooperation and support in ensuring that this incident does not repeat,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Police administration has also apologised for the incident.

The arrest is in connection with attacks on the residence of the New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate, Mustapha Yussif.

According to information gathered, the nine persons were arrested from various hideouts in the area.

The suspects include Kwadwo Edana, Danjumah Edana, Salifu Abdulia, Isshaku Kaharu, Haaji Mahama ,Fuseini Issah, Abubakari Hakim, Bukari Mohammed and Yadow Baaba.

The suspects are reported to have been sent to the police station at Walewale and are expected to be arraigned.

The Yagaba residence of Hon. Mustapha and the 1st ever media house in the entire district (Y/K Fm) were both attacked in the evening of Sunday, November 29, 2020, in his absence. Property worth millions were destroyed and some sympathisers were injured.

The Member of Parliament for Yagaba Kubore has been blamed by the aide of the NPP candidate for instigating the attacks on his residence and has vowed to ensure that the law takes its due course.

“Let me place on record that, Hon. Tanko directly instigated the attack at a community engagement at Tantala. At this engagement, he incited his followers to attack Hon. Mustapha Ussif when he returns to his residence at Yagaba from his campaign. This unparliamentary act was captured on video which accompanies this release,” a statement from the aide of the NPP candidate said.

Mr Ussif, who is also the New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for the Yagaba-Kubori constituency, has blamed the attacks on his opponents.

Mr Ussif was of a strong conviction that his opponent instigated the attacks, stating they have video evidence to that effect.

Though he is reported to have escaped unhurt, a number of his campaign vehicles were vandalised with reports suggesting that a local radio station, Yagaba, belonging to him was equally not spared.

It is unclear what may have triggered the violence that has left about four persons badly injured a few days to the polls.

However, speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show, the NPP candidate accused his opponent of firing warning shots amid the controversy.

Meanwhile, four persons, who suffered machete wounds, were rushed to a health facility for treatment after they were seen bleeding profusely.

The Man of God has dared his critics to go and ask his mates from Kumasi AMASS and his football mates if he Owusu Bempah was a dark person.

“You can be a white person, but sometimes because you don’t take care of your skin, you look dark. But now thankfully, there are creams that will show your natural colour.” He said in Twi on KofiTV as observed by MyNewsGh.com.

He said even if was bleaching he wasn’t one to shy away from that truth, but insisted he doesn’t bleach.

In the same interview, he said the General Overseer of the Royalhouse Chapel, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah cannot accuse anyone of bleaching because he himself has been bleaching using injection and swallowing of pills.

He said also accused Korankye Ankrah of seeking to destroy ‘the prophetic anointing’ of God and he will resist.

“Korankye Ankrah doesn’t know how to preach. I am daring him to come to the stadium and meet me for a preaching competition.”

On womanizing, Rev Owusu Bempah said Korankye Ankrah loves women and has been sleeping around.

“I won’t encourage pastors to be sleeping around with women but remove the speck in your eye before you try to remove that of others,” he said.

Rev Owusu Bempah accused Sam Korankye Ankrah of cheating on his wife with several women.

“Sam Korankye Ankrah is accusing someone of being a false prophet because he slept with someone’s wife. Does he think we don’t know about the numerous women he sleeps with?”

Asked if he was making this accusation just to get back at Rev Korankye Ankrah, Rev Owusu Bempah said, “I know all I’m talking about. He can dare me so we go to court, and I’ll show you all his girlfriends”.
