The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has extended its congratulations to John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the 2024 general elections, officially electing him as President of Ghana.
In a statement signed by its President, Kwabena Yeboah, SWAG described Mahama’s win as the beginning of a promising new chapter in the nation’s leadership.
The Association also expressed its eagerness to work alongside the President-Elect to foster and enhance sports development in Ghana.
“President-Elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has shown his dedication to sports advancement by engaging key stakeholders, including SWAG, in the pre-election period,” the statement highlighted.
SWAG commended the peaceful conduct of the election and praised Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his dignified concession.
In conclusion, SWAG wished the President-Elect success as he takes on the highest office in the country and expressed optimism that his administration would usher in a period of stability, growth, and prosperity for Ghana.
Mahama won the election with 6,328,397 votes, which accounts for 56.55% of the valid votes, compared to 4,657,304 votes (41.61%) garnered by Bawumia.
