Suspend EC Boss and her deputies now – Hassan Ayariga to Akufo-Addo

-

The Flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has called for the immediate suspension of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and her deputy commissioners.
Hassan Ayariga speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Monday said events unfolding at the commission show that all the commissioners do not deserve to head such an honourable body.
“EC Boss’ allegations tell that there are serious problems at the commission…the President of the republic must suspend all the commissioners of the EC, all of them must proceed on leave for investigations to go on…,” he suggested.
This suggestion, he said is borne out of the fact that the EC Boss and her two commissioners have demonstrated that they lack the credibility to run the institution.
“These people have portrayed that they are all not credible and must be made to proceed on leave…,” he said.
Mrs. Charlotte Osei, in a 27-paged response rubbished claims levelled against her to suggest she was involved in misappropriation and abuse of office.
The petition signed by Counsel for the staff, Maxwell Opoku-Agyemang cited among other things the breaching of the Procurement Law in procuring goods and services for the Commission.
They claimed that she, unilaterally and without recourse to procurement procedures, engaged the services of lawyers, Sory@Law who represented the Commission in the pre-election legal banter with aggrieved parties and disqualified flagbearers.
She was also alleged to have abrogated an existing contract with Super Tech Ltd. (STL), unilaterally renegotiating and re-awarding the contract at new sum of $21,999,592 without serious regard to the tender processes.
Charlotte Osei, following the allegations responded, giving various reasons why the allegations were untrue and non-factual.
The details of the response, Hassan Ayariga said reveals deep seated problems at the EC which need enough time to be solved.
And ordering the Commissioners to proceed on leave, he said is one of the means to resolving the problems at the commission.
Hassan Ayariga further cautioned members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop politicizing the problems at the EC the problems are beyond partisan considerations.
“The petitioners are not NPP, or APC and hence I have warned the NDC members defending the EC Boss to stay off…it is not witch hunting, so they must let the laws of the country work…after reading the response to the allegations, it clearly states that NPP has no hand in this matter and clearly vindicates the NPP…,” he stated further.
Mrs Charlotte Osei, the 2016 Flagbearer of the APC added ought to be the last person to complain about people’s attitude at the commission as she is known to be a ‘very disrespectful’ figure at the commission.
“In this country, who doesn’t respect than the EC Boss? The EC person does not respect even the laws of the country…the EC Boss even disrespected flagbearers of political parties…her case is beyond partisanship and that the NDC must stop defending her because she was appointed by the former President…,” he said.
