Stay off John Mahama or… – NDC’s Brogya Gyamfi warns NPP

-

The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Brogya Gyamfi has warned the government and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay off ex-President John Dramani Mahama or face a fierce resistance.
According to him, the NPP as part of their agenda has decided to hound the former President out of the capital city but warns it won’t get away with it this time.
He made the statement in the wake of the controversy surrounding the former president’s residence in Accra for which Defence minister says the area is a military installation and demands John Mahama vacates the place.
Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul at a Meet the Press session on Thursday, asked John Mahama to vacate the residence in which he occupies because as it was sited on military land.
Former President John Dramani Mahama’s outfit has denied that he is occupying a military land and described the Defence Minister’s claims as irresponsible and reckless.
According to Dominic Nitiwul, over 300 acres of land have been sold in the last two years by officials who were supposed to be custodians of the lands.
He further accused the former President of being a beneficiary of the military lands which were sold indiscriminately in the last couple of years.
Speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii Sen on Friday, Brogya Gyamfi boisterously said Former President Mahama is the heart of the NDC and any attack on him is an attack on the party.
He revealed that he together with his men in the Ashanti Region have resolved to battle the NPP in order to forestall future vilifications of the former president.
“I have spoken to my Youth in Ashanti Region and we are telling the NPP to tread cautiously about the former president. John Mahama is the heart of NDC and any attempt to attack him is an attack on the party. The NPP should be careful or will face our wrath the next time,” he warned.
The aspiring National Youth Organiser of the NDC alleged that the NPP has always sought the downfall of John Mahama and are attempting to use the problems with his accommodation to vilify him.
Brogya Gyamfi reckoned the revelation by defence minister, Dominc Nitiwul about John Mahama’s residence ‘was needless and did not make sense’ because he is not the only person occupying the said land.
“What business has Dominc Nitiwul to talk about John Mahama in respect of these lands? Is he the only one occupying the said lands? We know of some senior journalists also living there, why weren’t their names mentioned? What at all has JM done to the NPP? Why are they always pursuing him?” he quizzed.
He hinted that if the NPP Government under the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo cannot or will not provide accommodation for the former president as spelt out by article 71, it should leave him in peace or the NDC will rise up.
