Starlets receive $4000 each as U17 participation bonuses

Public Relations Officer  for  the ministry of Youth and Sport, Evans Adjei Baah ,has stated that the national Under 17 team ,Black Starlets have each received $4000 as bonuses for taking part in last month’s FIFA U-17World Cup tournament in  India .Ghana was sent packing after loosing  2-1 to Mali in the quarter finals.
The team defeated  Colombia and India  in the group stages but lost to the United States. They progressed to the round of 16 where they eliminated fellow Africans Niger following a 2-0 victory in Mumbai.
According to Evans, the team received the money following their wins at the competition.
“We are making some payments and began with the Black starlets. The moneys due the players have hit their accounts given by the ministry”.
“We already put it out there they are operating on a $1000 per win but we are operating on the qualification bonus scheme. So advancing from the group despite winning two games each player receives $3000,
“On top of that an amount of $1000 each for the round of 16 win over Niger- that makes it $4000 per player in total.”
Ghana’s defeat to Mali, made it their third  to the same side this year having lost to the African Champions in the finals of the Africa U17 Championship finals and a pre-World Cup friendly played in Abu Dhabi
