Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has disclosed that Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, is set to initiate discussions with SuperSport regarding potential broadcasting rights for the Ghana Premier League.
Currently, the country’s top-flight league lacks both a headline sponsor and an official television partner following the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to end its deal with Chinese pay-TV network, StarTimes.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, February 19, Mr. Ayariga revealed that the Sports Minister intends to engage with the South African-based broadcaster to explore coverage options for the league.
“The Minister of Sports and Recreation has revealed to me that he is looking to negotiate with SuperSport and others to begin covering our local leagues,” Mr. Ayariga said.
Although there have been reports suggesting that StarTimes is renegotiating a return as the league’s broadcaster, the GFA has yet to make an official announcement on the matter.
