Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has revealed that the Essipong Sports Stadium is currently undergoing roofing work.
The Minister shared this update on Wednesday during a press briefing about the Norway scandal.
He stated that, the stadium, which had fallen into disrepair, is now receiving much-needed renovations to address various damaged sections of the structure.
“We have very good news for you on Essipong. As we speak, the contractor is roofing Essipong. We told you from the beginning that work was ongoing… when you are doing construction, there is no way the place will look very tidy until you finish,” Ussif explained.
He further detailed the restoration efforts, saying, “We told you that they were blasting because a lot of the metals that were used were being damaged and the contractor, as part of his scope, was to make sure that they blast all the metals and then coat them.”
The Essipong Stadium was originally built for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ghana.
