A flag bearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress Ekwow Spio Gabrah has lashed out at the National Executive Council of the party over GH 400, 000 filing fee for flagbearer aspirants.
He describes the NEC’s decision as an avenue to breed bribery and corruption.
“This decision will force people to try all means to get the funds and when the person comes into power, he will also find means to reap the money and that is how the bribery and corruption starts,” he said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show.

According to Mr Garbrah, the party should not hide behind the need for funds to overburden flagbearer aspirants as the only avenue to raise money to fund the party’s activities.
“The party can raise funds through diverse means but the decision by the National Executive Council (NEC) has created the impression that all the burdens of the party will be on the flag bearer which is unrealistic and out of line.”

He wants the party to turn its attention to the ability and capabilities of candidates but not their financial status.
“The national Chairman paid GHC 10,000.00with the secretary paying GHC 8,000.00 but were voted for because of their individual abilities and not because they were able to afford the money.”
