Special voting: Cape North MP accuses Ekow Ewusi of mischief [Video]

Cape Coast North Member of Parliament, Kwamena Minta Nyarku has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate, Horace Ekow Ewusi of mischief in the ongoing Special Voting exercise.

Dr Nyarku who doubles as the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Parliamentary candidate has raised concerns about Mr Ewusi wearing a t-shirt with NPP colours contrary to the electoral rules.

The MP could not comprehend why a parliamentary candidate would decide to flout the electoral rule when clearly spelt out.

Addressing journalists while monitoring the electoral process, Dr Nyarku said he expects the Electoral Commission (EC) officials to call his opponent to order.

“I have reported it to the Returning Officer, indicating that the act is not appropriate and he should act accordingly.

“The electoral process does not allow us to wear party colours when there is voting, so why would a parliamentary candidate decide to wear one when indeed he knows. Unless otherwise he is ignorant about what he is supposed to do but I know it’s deliberate,” he stated.

The MP noted following his complaint to the Returning Officer, he expects that Mr Ewusi will be asked to go home and  change his outfit.

“Everybody knows his act and the kind of person we are dealing with he is either seeking to create chaos or be mischievous otherwise I don’t see the need why someone contesting as a Member of Parliament will wear party colours to the voting centre,” he said.
