Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has announced that the upcoming parliamentary session, scheduled to reconvene on September 3, will be held at the Dome of the International Conference Centre.
The announcement was made official in a letter dated August 27, 2024, signed by Speaker Bagbin.
The letter referenced Article 112(3) of the 1992 Constitution, which empowers the Speaker to designate an alternative meeting location for Parliament when necessary.
The primary reason for the change in venue is the ongoing renovation work in Parliament’s main chamber.
Alban Bagbin noted that these extensive repairs, which include upgrades to the Chamber’s infrastructure, working tables, chairs, and other furnishings essential for legislative operations, will not be completed in time for the scheduled session.
Below is the Speaker’s letter.
