Speaker Bagbin announces National Integrity Awards to honour anti-corruption champions

-

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has announced the launch of the National Integrity Awards to recognise and honour citizens who demonstrate exceptional commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and nation-building.

Speaking before Parliament was adjourned indefinitely, Speaker Bagbin explained that the award scheme is designed to promote integrity and foster accountability across Ghana.

“The National Integrity Award scheme is a crucial step in promoting integrity in the country by recognising and honouring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and the fight against corruption.

“By this initiative, we aim to inspire a national movement where integrity is not only expected but desired and rewarded,” Speaker `Bagbin stated.

In addition to the National Integrity Awards, he also introduced the “Vulture Award,” aimed at exposing and shaming corrupt public officials.

He further emphasised that while men and women of integrity will be celebrated, those with the lowest levels of integrity will be named and shamed.

“Apart from the National Integrity Award that will be given to men and women of integrity, there will also be what is termed the Vulture Award, which will be bestowed upon individuals considered to have the lowest levels of integrity in the country.”

Bagbin described the initiative as a transformative step in strengthening accountability and ethical leadership in the country.
