South Tongu NDC parliamentary candidate donates mono desks to Sogakope Technical Institute

-

The National Democratic Congress(NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for South Tongu, Maxwell Lukutor, through his ML Foundation, has donated desks to Sogakope Technical Institute in the Volta Region.

Presenting the desks, Mr Lukutor stated how he was truly moved by the passionate appeal  by the Principal made in a letter to him.

“The Principal wrote a letter to me sometime ago about the plights of the school. He made mention of a lot of challenges like inadequate furniture for the students and inadequate infrastructure in the school.

“So I am moved by that to at least, start with this few desks. There are others that would follow very soon. We will work on the sheds under which they study too,” he said.

Mr Lukutor launched the foundation in March 2024 to mark his 50th birthday, targeting to improve five thematic areas, including Education, Agriculture, Health, job Creation and Youth development to make the world a better place than as we came to meet it.

The foundation has since embarked on many social interventions, like sponsoring the just-ended division three league in the South Tongu District.

According to Mr Lukutor, “This and many other things the foundation would do to eradicate poverty and improve lives in the District.”

Receiving the items, the Principal, Evans Kwame Afavi commended ML Foundation for the kind gesture.

He described the donation as “very timely and a great relief to the board, management, staff, parents and most especially, the students, adding that the donated items would be put to good use and kept well for the benefit of all”.

Speaking to Adom News, Mr Afavi mentioned that the Sogakope Technical Institute was established freshly with 180 student population from 2023/2024 Academic year and the school is lacking a lot of things.

“The school is freshly established with 180 enrollment, the classrooms were built with inadequate furniture for students and teachers, we need warehouse, more classrooms to augment what we currently have to train the youth with skills”

The school is currently running three courses, Electrical engineering, Cookery and fashion designing.

Mr. Afavi, has therefore, called on government, corporate bodies, Non-governmental organizations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school since there are more pressing needs.
