Sokoman queenmother appeals for assistance to rehabilitate basic school

Queen mother of Soko in the Afigya Kwabre North district in the Ashanti region, Nana Ama Achiaa, is appealing for assistance to rehabilitate basic school infrastructure in the community four years after it lost its roofing to a rainstorm.

According to her, teaching and learning has become difficult after the incident.

“We have informed the assembly several times, but we have not received any fruitful response,” she noted.

Speaking to Adom News, she said two classes have been merged and the children at the kindergarten have their studies in the headmaster’s office.

“Basic one and two are merged in one classroom; basic three and four are also in one classroom; how can learning be effective?” she queried.

Nana Achiaa called on Sokoman natives abroad and other non-governmental organizations to support them with better education.

“There are a lot of successful people who come from our community, and we are counting on them to come to our aid,” she said.

The headmaster of Soko D/A Basic and JHS, Mr. Solomon Acheampong, explained that the dilapidated nature of their school block has made it difficult to access quality education.

“The Parent Teacher Association supported us by roofing some of the buildings, but they ran out of funds, which has left the building uncompleted,” she said.

He said though authorities are aware of the situation nothing has been done so far.

This came to light when the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation Mobile Learning visited the Sokoman community to introduce the students to ICT learning.
