Former Deputy Communications Minister under the John Mahama administration, Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu says the Akufo-Addo government is only raising the hopes of Ghanaians with regards to the Sinohydro infrastructural deal.
According to him, the incumbent government is only engaging in too much talks with very little to show for the things they are saying.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, monitored by Adomonline, the former deputy minister
said the NPP administration can never be a match for the opposition National Democratic
Congress (NDC) even with the take-off of the Sinohydro deal.
“The NPP should stop
raising hopes because they don’t have much to show for the things they are
saying because the impact of their projects cannot be felt and makes what NDC
did far better. NPP is only mongering hope but needs to reduce the hope talk
and focus on the works they have started,” he said.
To him, all the funding of the Sinohydro project, which seems to be the major source of infrastructural development from the NPP to Ghanaians, is not even guaranteed.

“The NPP only have
part of the $2bn for the start of the project and even the scope of Sinohydro
is minimal so they should reduce the talk and focus on the money at their
disposal to finance the projects and speak to the works on the ground.
“I have heard people
say the Sinohydro is going to be the biggest infrastructure programme in Ghana,
but it is not true,” he said in Fante.
Sinohydro Group
Limited, a Chines company, is expected to provide US$2billion of infrastructure
including roads, bridges, interchanges, hospitals, housing and rural
electrification in exchange for Ghana’s refined bauxite.
The project, which is
expected to be in phases, will have the phase one cover the Accra Inner City
Roads, Kumasi Inner City Roads, Tamale Interchange Project, PTC Roundabout
Interchange Project, Takoradi and Adentan-Dodowa Dual Carriageway.
The rest are the Sunyani
Inner City Roads, Western Region and Cape Coast Inner City Roads.
It will also focus on the upgrade of selected Feeder Roads in the Ashanti and Western regions, rehabilitation of Oda Ofoase -Abirem Road and Hohoe-Jasikan-Dodi Pepesu Road.
