Several state companies has collapsed under Akufo-Addo – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama is accusing his successor, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of collapsing several state companies he inherited.

According to him, some companies which are in existence are underperforming, citing the Produce Buying Company (PBC) as an example.

“All the jobs they inherited have collapsed. PBC had been in existence from Nkrumah’s time and under my tenure, 30% of cocoa exported were purchased by PBC but now they don’t have the capacity and is in distress.

“Banks they borrowed monies from have started selling their assets. So this shows the Akufo-Addo government could not even take care of the cocoa industry,” he said.

Speaking to the members of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer said he is contesting the 2024 election to rescue Ghana from the mess created by the incumbent government.

This was as part of his campaign tour in the region to spread the rescue and reset Ghana messages to electorates.

Before holding the usual rallies, Mr Mahama met the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, where he outlined his vision and also reminded them of the destruction caused by the ruling NPP regime.

“Ghana discovered oil under former President Kufuor’s era but it oil and gas became operational under Atta-Mills we established jubilee field.

“We went for a loan from China and established Atuabo gas to power electricity under my tenure. Sankofa and ten fields were also created to increase oil production by 100,000 barrels but in eight years, not a single barrel has been added, reducing it by 35% the only thing we have now is gold,” he bemoaned.
