Several people have reportedly been injured and properties destroyed in a violent clash at Ngama Gberuk in the Bunkpurugu district of the North East Region.
Accra-based Citi News reported that the incident was triggered by an interclan conflict between Nandouk Teeb and Maan Teeb over chieftaincy titles.
The two clans had traveled to Binde, the seat of the Pibrana, the Paramount Chief of the area, for enskinment ceremonies.
The ceremony was successful, and both clans were returning to Ngama Gberuk when they were ambushed by unknown gunmen who opened fire.
Some of the commuters caught up in the shooting incident sustained gunshot wounds, while others, in an attempt to flee, were also injured.
In a related development, several houses and properties have been set ablaze, displacing many.
