Juventus’ continued development under manager Thiago Motta will be the focus of Matchday 6 in the 2024-25 Serie A season, as the Turin giants head to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium for a clash with Genoa.
The ‘Bianconeri’ will face the ‘Rossoblu’ on Saturday afternoon and look to continue their evolution under Brazilian-born Motta, who is trying to make the team in black and white a more fluid and cohesive unit – one which can challenge Inter Milan for the Scudetto, if not this season, then at least in the near future.
Genoa, who held Inter 2-2 on the opening day of the season, will represent a tricky test for Juventus, but Motta is adamant that his team will continue to grow as they gain experience and playing time together.
“The whole team can improve in terms of precision, because we have the quality to do it,” said Motta. “We’ll see where we are in the important months of the season, but it is far too early to talk about anything beyond that.”
AC Milan will kick-start the round with a home match against Lecce on Friday night. The ‘Rossoneri’ will hope that English striker Tammy Abraham can make a difference in attack – and the player himself believes that leaving Roma for this loan move can bring the best out of him.
“It’s not that I lost confidence at all, but the fans know how important Roma is to me,” said the ex-Chelsea man. “But sometimes in life there are cases where you have to go to the next level, set the bar higher, and I thought this was the right opportunity. I wish Roma the best, but now I’m focused on Milan.”
Champions Inter will be in action on Saturday, taking on Udinese away from home for what should be a challenging clash. ‘Le Zebrette’ have made progress under manager Kosta Runjaic, who will be hoping to further enhance his reputation with a win against the ‘Nerazzurri’.
“We need to work on the finer details. We’ll learn things from every game and judge how we’ve played. We want to bring greater energy to our performances, especially when we’re playing at home. We need to strike fear into the teams who come to Udine,” said Runjaic.
Sunday is headlined by Antonio Conte’s Napoli hosting Monza at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, and the round closes out on Monday night when Parma chase a home win against Cagliari in a clash that could be regarded an as early six-pointer between teams whose primary aim for the season is top-flight survival.
