Matchday 21 of the 2024-25 Serie A season offers up two mouth-watering clashes, as Juventus host AC Milan and Napoli visit Atalanta.

Juventus and Milan will clash at the Allianz Stadium in Turin early on the evening of Saturday 18 January – a meeting of two heavyweights who are under pressure due to failing to live up to expectations this season.
Perhaps that pressure will force a better game, with the teams having played out a tepid 0-0 draw when they last met in Serie A back in November. In fact, the last four league matches between the Bianconeri and the Rossoneri have produced just two goals.
“It will be fundamental for us to put in a balanced performance at a high intensity, whilst maintaining our concentration throughout,” said Juve manager Thiago Motta, who has seen his side draw far too many matches this season. “I don’t think possession is the only key to winning. Many other things count, like intensity and balance.”
Once the Juve-Milan match is over, attention immediately turns to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, where Napoli host Atalanta in a meeting of two teams which not only play attacking and dynamic football, but represent the two most credible threats to Inter Milan’s hopes of retaining the Scudetto.
Atalanta have had Napoli’s number in recent times, recording successive 3-0 wins over the Neapolitans through 2024, but Antonio Conte (manager of the former team) has insisted that his hunger for victory could turn the tide.
“Even when I play cards with my daughter, I want to win,” said the former Chelsea, Juventus and Italian national team boss. “I would never sign on for minimum goals. Personally, I always aim for the maximum.
“The squad is improving and works, game after game. We need to avoid injuries, the players and the fans are getting a lot of satisfaction. I am pleased, because the team is improving, but if we can score a few more goals, then we would all be more relaxed and avoid a few heart attacks.”
Champions Inter Milan will have their chance to reply when they welcome Empoli to the San Siro on Sunday night, while the round also features Roma at home to Genoa on Friday, Lazio visiting Verona on Sunday, and a Monday night battle at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium between Como and Udinese.
