The round of fixtures opens on Saturday afternoon with newly promoted Parma taking on AC Milan. Newly appointed manager Paulo Fonseca has shown that he has plans to turn his Milan side into a Spain national football team inspired side.

There has been a lot of offloading at the club, and he is in the process of bringing in new players who will deliver his vision. He also said that it is not easy to work with too many players in the squad.

“We work and play to aim for the top, we cannot say that we are ahead of everyone to win the league, but we want to be fighting for the Scudetto,” Fonseca said.

“Inter are reigning champions, we know their level, Juventus, Napoli and Atalanta, apart from ourselves, also have the right things to compete.”

Saturday also features Lazio playing away to Udinese, Monza hosting Genoa and reigning champions Inter Milan having their first home game of the season when they welcome Lecce to the iconic San Siro Stadium.

The action from the Serie A continues on Sunday and features Atalanta playing away to Torino, as well as two heavyweights at home, as Napoli and Roma host Bologna and Empoli respectively.

Monday brings a clash between Cagliari and Como which may already be regarded as a relegation six-pointer, before Juventus close out the round with their trip to the Bentegodi Stadium to face Verona.

Thiago Motta is keen on impressing as the new coach of Juventus and with the transfer window still open, the chance to make changes is still very much possible. Motta says that he was “very” satisfied with how the summer window has gone to date.

“I’m calm about the transfer market and we’re working hard to build a competitive team,” Motta said.
