Semenyo says 5-0 win over Chad boosts Black Stars’ confidence

-

Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana’s dominant 5-0 win over Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will significantly boost the team’s confidence for upcoming matches.

Before this emphatic victory at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night, the senior national team had struggled in attack, managing just three goals in their last six outings—a poor run that cost them a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking after the match, the AFC Bournemouth striker expressed optimism about the team’s newfound momentum.

“I feel like we’ve got goal scorers in the team. We just need to get into the right positions, and we’ve done that today. Scoring five goals is a confidence booster,” Semenyo said.

The Black Stars’ commanding performance was powered by goals from Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohamed Salifu, and Ernest Nuamah, securing all three points.

Ghana now shifts focus to their next challenge, a crucial Matchday Six clash against second-placed Madagascar on Monday, March 24. The game will take place at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco.

A win in this encounter would strengthen Ghana’s position at the top of the group and edge them closer to securing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
