Semenyo confident as Black Stars eye 2026 World Cup qualification

-

Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is within their control as the team builds momentum in the qualifiers.

After a slow start, the Black Stars have regained their form with crucial victories over Mali and the Central African Republic, followed by a dominant 5-0 win against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Semenyo, who scored in the emphatic win, highlighted the significance of playing on football’s biggest stage, calling it a dream for every player.

“I think anyone wants to play at the World Cup; not many players can say they’ve played at the World Cup. So, we have such a good opportunity to qualify now. First, we need to win these two games,” he told SuperSport.

“Playing on the biggest stage in the world, everyone loves to play, but not everyone loves to watch players play in the World Cup.

“So for us, we’ve got the opportunity in our hands, so we just need to take it,” he added.

Ghana will face Madagascar in their Matchday Six clash at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium, with kickoff set for 19:00 GMT.
