Some market women in Kojo-Krom, located in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency, have pledged to vote for the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Charles Bissue, in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen community engagement in Sekondi-Takoradi, the market women shared their reasons for supporting Mr. Bissue.
According to them, they have seen significant improvements in the constituency, particularly in the market, since he became the Parliamentary Candidate.
“Charles Bissue has done a lot for us. The market used to flood whenever it rained, making it very difficult for us to work. But now, the market has been fixed, and we no longer face the same challenges,” said one of the market women.
They explained that a major issue in the market was the lack of proper storm drains, which caused flooding.
However, thanks to Mr. Bissue’s efforts, the situation has been resolved.
“He is almost done building a big gutter in the market, which will help with drainage. This shows that he is working hard to improve the market for us,” another market woman added.
The women also noted that they see Charles Bissue as a leader who truly cares about their well-being and the development of the constituency.
“We see that he has something better for the constituency, and we trust that he will continue his good work. We like the way he speaks. He understands us, and we believe he will continue to do great things for the market and the constituency,” they said.
The impact of the NPP government’s policies, such as the Free SHS program, was also disclosed by some market women.
“Our children have benefited from the Free SHS, and that’s why we won’t vote for the NDC. We’re voting for the NPP because we’ve seen the good work they’ve done,” one woman explained.
As the 2024 elections draw near, the market women expressed optimism about the future.
“When the NPP comes to power again, we know there will be even more development in the constituency. Charles Bissue has respected us, and we believe he will continue to do so,” said another.
They therefore called on the youth to support the NPP, urging them to continue the progress made under the current government.
“The NPP has done a lot for the market, and we want to see even more progress. We’re asking the youth to vote for Charles Bissue and the NPP to keep the good work going,” they added.
