School Feeding saga: We are ever ready to supply food to students – Food Suppliers

-

The Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS) urged parents and guardians to assist with the feeding challenges in senior high schools.

Five days after schools reopened, the National Secretary of CHASS, Primus Baro, revealed that the situation in high schools is dire, with many institutions having to ration food.

However, the President of the National Food Suppliers Association of Ghana, Thomas Awuah, on Adom FM’s Burning Issues, said, “Although there are some arrears the previous government must clear, we are ready to provide food to the students if the government agrees to give us the necessary contract documents.”

“The previous government made some payments before leaving office, but regardless of the situation, we have never denied students food and have never pressured anyone. So, I don’t understand what is happening.”

Thomas Awuah called on the government to hold a stakeholder meeting to get a proper understanding of the matter to help solve the issue.

“I suggest the government calls a stakeholder meeting to understand the problem well because all that is happening indicates there is no proper understanding.”

“I can see the government does not understand it well, so there should be a dialogue.”
