The Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awurbe, has led a joint security committee to Bole to tackle a series of unresolved murder cases that have sparked fear and insecurity in the area.
During his visit, the Minister, accompanied by members of the Regional and Municipal Security Councils, expressed deep concern over the rising cases of unknown murders in Bole.
This follows the discovery of two new murder cases in February 2025. The Minister and his team, alongside traditional authorities, toured some crime scenes in an effort to identify solutions and restore safety to the community.
Addressing the media upon his arrival, the Minister paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and people of Bole at the Bolewura’s palace.
He appealed to the traditional authorities to support efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, stressing the urgency of bringing justice to the victims.
He further emphasized that President Mahama is deeply troubled by the killings in his hometown, especially as some government workers have threatened to leave the community for their safety, and night-time businesses are collapsing due to fear of attacks.
On behalf of the traditional authorities and residents, the Paramount Chief of the Mankumawura Traditional Area, Jira Dramani Amadu, expressed gratitude to the Minister for his swift intervention.
He called on the regional administration and President Mahama to deploy additional security personnel, particularly military officers, to conduct night and dawn patrols, as many residents now fear sleeping in their own homes.
Meanwhile, the Assemblyman for Mempeasem Electoral Area, Abu Hassan Peace Brother, who has recorded over 10 criminal cases in his area—including an attempted kidnapping of a one-year-old baby near the Bolewura’s palace—lamented the worsening situation.
He noted that many of these crimes occur around primary and junior high schools and urged the government to increase security presence in Bole to curb the growing threats.
The joint security team has assured residents of intensified efforts to restore law and order in the community.
