Savannah Regional Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril, has issued a stern warning to the Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) within the region to refrain from using government-provided road machinery for private gain.

Speaking at a ceremony at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Damongo, the regional capital, the minister emphasized that the machinery is intended for public use within the various districts and not for personal revenue generation.

The equipment, which includes tipper trucks, graders, bulldozers, and excavators, is meant to improve infrastructure and support development projects in the region.

Mr Jibril cautioned that any MMDCE found misusing the machinery for personal purposes would face legal consequences.

He further stressed the importance of proper security for the equipment, advising any assembly lacking adequate security measures to store the machinery at the nearest police station to ensure its safety.

In his address, the minister also expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents of the Savannah Region to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his efforts in creating jobs.

He highlighted that over 150 individuals have been employed to drive and operate the 68 machines, including mechanics, providing much-needed employment opportunities in the region.

The ceremony marked a significant step in ensuring that government resources are used appropriately to benefit the public and contribute to the region’s development.
