Sankore Health Centre is set to see improvement in healthcare delivery as the Ahafo Regional Minister and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asunafo South have initiated the construction of a surgical theatre.
At the sod-cutting ceremony, which marked the commencement of this significant project, the Ahafo Regional Minister, George Boakye, expressed his concerns about the encroachment on the health centre’s land.
He stressed that such encroachment could have adverse effects if left unaddressed.
The construction of the surgical theatre, funded by the Asunafo South District Assembly, is expected to be completed in 12 months, providing a vital boost to healthcare services in the region.
The DCE also revealed plans to upgrade the Sankore Health Centre to a Polyclinic, which would have additional facilities. In light of this, he called on local chiefs, as custodians of the land, to urgently address the land encroachment issue.
The District Health Director for Asunafo South, Dr. Kwadwo Ansong commended the District Assembly for its commitment to establishing the surgical theatre.
He also urged the Assembly to address the dire state of the roads leading to the health center.
Dr. Ansong said the poor road poses significant threat to both the staff and clients of the healthcare facility.
